A glorious and intrepid chafer beetle climbing up my finger. It has a chonky black and white body, warm brown wing cases, a slightly fuzzy black head, big black eyes, and the most delightful antennas. The antennas are short with utterfuckingly adorable little fan shaped structures at the ends. There's probably a scientific name for those. I didn't think to look it up though. It also has long spindly legs that end in smol claws, that would be great for tap-dancing.

I was only on it for 2 weeks and it takes months to take effect - with better planning I probably shouldn’t have started it 🤦🏽‍♀️ I asked for my teeth but was told no because of infection risks. They told me they’d get me a photo but didn’t 😭

I had to pause it for my wisdom teeth surgery 😭 and have been told to stay off until I get signed off by the surgeons - which keeps getting pushed back (because of appointments being rescheduled)

I feel this. I was an event last year where I was introduced as ‘one of the illustrators’ to the room. Which was accurate for why I was there. Ended up in a chat about drug development later on and had some super patronising responses to some suggestions. 1/2

0/10 do not recommend your household of 3 having 4 surgeries in the space of 6 months. 10/10 do recommend free* healthcare *at the point of use. Mostly. Don’t ask how much I’ve spent on emergency/follow up appointments because my surgery was dental.

March was always going to be ALOT. Even before my dad had fairly major surgery scheduled and spent 9 days and counting in hospital. But brighter days feel right on the horizon! He should be out soon & there’s one more major work event which should be a delight. Also here’s some henna 💁🏽‍♀️

Hana’s intricately hennaed hand - piped glossy brown paste forms a floral mandala on the back of the hand hand with vines flowing up the fingers and thumb, and swirly vines coming down on to the wrist area. Hearts and leaves fill the empty areas between the vines.

Steadily coming back to myself, including creatively, after surgery last month and a recovery period which has been tougher than expected in every possible way. Read this line of a Rumi poem and this piece buzzed around in my head incessantly until I made it. This counts as #SciArt right?
