Day 11 - another exhibition piece 🐘 #ArtAdventCalendar

Day 10 - in May, I started prepping for an art exhibition in the Summer. First up was this octopus who brings me so much joy ❤️🐙 #ArtAdventCalendar #SciArt

I’m really bored of chest pain now. The pleurisy is mostly gone. The costo is very slowly easing. But now loads of muscles in my chest & back are shouting… probably because they haven’t been used for anything other than coughing or tensing in pain for weeks.

Day 8 & we’re staying in Singapore & April. It was an absolutely joy drawing some of my favorite people while I was there. Revisiting these has got me cooking up a portrait challenge for myself in 2026 1. Cousin 2. 2 aunts 3. Grandma (with scribbles) 4. Cousin & her son #ArtAdventCalendar

Day 7 - April also brought lots of animal drawing while I was in Singapore #ArtAdventCalendar (yep still playing catch up!)

A square sketchbook with colour pencil drawings and written details. Including - A line of ants labelled horse ants or crazy ants, seen in bathroom. A brown and black moth seen in the house about 3cm, Macroglossum eltiene. A brown starling like bird, Javan Myna seen in garden. A red bodied dragonfly with translucent wings, common Scarlett see in pool. A scrawny mosquito, aedes aegypti. A brown gecko, 4 clawed gecko seen at ‘Kakak N’s’. A delicate blue-grey dove, zebra dove seen in garden. A little brown sparrow seen in the garden. A dark brown blob of a butterfly with ‘I keep seeing a dark brown butterfly by the pool. No idea what it is.’. A browny red chicken with chicks, Gallus gallus seen at changi village. And finally a black hornbill with yellow horn and beak, oriental pied hornbill seen at changi village.

Two quick brush pen sketches - one of a rugged bearded pig (looks a bit like a warthog with tusks, snout and ears) lying down and giving impressive side eye. And another of a smoother babirusa standing up and grazing - which looks a bit like a deer with a snout.

Day 6 - in April, my art practice took a turn and became very led by the 2 & 4 year olds I lived with for 3 weeks. Feat. Drawing and painting as soon as I emerged bleary eyed from my room in the morning and making the 2 year old’s animals party hats for his birthday #ArtAdventCalendar

Just found these half washed out post it note doodles from when my office sprung a leak earlier in the year. And they’re so beautiful, I could stare at them for hours.

5 crumpled pink post it notes with doodles on them which have washed out or had the ink split in colours and layers when they got wet. From top to bottom and left to right - the first has a series of blue blocks with black crosses on them, the crosses have half washed out and the blue slightly but left a black blotchy stain over most of it. The second has geometric purple circles and lines with black detail - the black details has completely gone on some but the purple remains. The third has alternating purple noughts and crosses with minimal black detail left. The fourth had green lines with black detail. The green darkened where it got wet while the black spread leaving a burnt look behind. The final one has purple organic lines with black detail which has partially washed out.

I had a whole plan for #ArtAdventCalendar before the cold from hell took me down. I’m going to get back to posting and I may or may not catch up! Day 4 takes us into March when I was playing with the Prixel Press I got for my birthday.

A yellow and purple printed geometric design similar to a mandala but less circular. The yellow has been printed first with circles, semi circles and quarter circle shapes and the purple has been stamped on top with circular and angular outlines

Heading back down South after a wonderful few days at #BSI25. Highlights include - meeting lots of wonderful members esp those only previously seen on a screen - the many immune cell badge hunts on the stand (IYKYK) - both the careers panel and the impromptu scicomm careers clinic afterwards
