Page 1: A man is walking home, smoking a cigarette, being quietly trailed by a UFO above him. As he enters his apartment, two aliens watch from inside the ship. Alien 1, who has a large head, says, “that’s him. Let’s move.”

Page 2: The man walks upstairs as the aliens watch from the entrance of the building. The man enters his apartment and greets his little dog. Suddenly there is a knock at the door.

Page 3: he peers through his peephole, and sees the two aliens standing in the hallway. Alien 1 is holding a briefcase. From behind him, the voice of alien one: “don’t scream.”

Page 4: The aliens are seated across the room on the man’s couch. Sadie is in her bed next to them. Alien 1 says, “you’re not in any danger. Have a seat.” The man looks at his dog and thinks, “sadie is unusually calm.” Alien 1: don’t scream, or it’s a problem.

I love this analytical take on video game categorization from Antoine Mayerowitz and Julie Belzanne: hushcrasher.substack.com/p/taxonomy-o... Instead of trying to vibe-intuit the definition of an "indie" game, the authors analyzed the data from the perspective of game size and credits length

A graph titled Scope of video games according to Hushcrasher Classification System. The Y axis shows Game Size (from 10 MB to 100GB), the X axis shows Credits count (sourced from Mobygames).

The clustered dots on the graph represent 4 distinct scale categories of games - Kei, Midi, AA, AAA. The larger correlation between the size and the credits means larger category of a game.

It Takes Two tries to tell the story of a couple reuniting for their daughter but the lesson I took from it was "some people really should not have children". Some good ideas but grotesquely annoying characters and very weird tone. Curious for Split Fiction, but not very hopeful tbh.

I really don't understand the decision behind Duolingo trying to paint their cute owl mascot as some kind of mafia villain that comes after you for making mistakes. Why? This is an app to make learning languages fun! It doesn't need that edgy nonsense.

New Dragon Age released but I'm not a Dragon Age guy and don't have the time rn so I did the next best thing: I reinstalled Anthem. And I stand by my opinion that for all its flaws, there's still really nothing like it and it's a shame it was abandoned.
