Final ratings are in for the 60 Minutes premiere. According to Nielsen, it drew 7.9 million total viewers and 1.6 million in the 25-54 demo, down 21% and 33%, respectively, compared to last year. This is the first time this century it's premiered with fewer than 9 million viewers.

BREAKING: A Boeing 767 ICE charter operated by Eastern Airlines has just landed in Eswatini. This is very likely the fifth third-country removal to Eswatini, the first via a large jet. The previous largest group was 11. This one could be much, much bigger.

New York and Illinois have both passed laws allowing people to file civil lawsuits against federal agents. These statutes are meant to fill a gap caused by Supreme Court rulings that have restricted the criteria for these lawsuits based on federal law.

Federal law makes it very difficult to file lawsuits against federal officers, but some states have adopted their own laws to give people a so-called cause of action to sue.

jfc, I hadn't read the article yet when I posted this, and I thought (I hoped) I was exaggerating, but NYT:
The extraordinary lengths that the government took to get the president out of Turkey in secret suggested that officials viewed the Iranian threat as credible. And it led the White House to purposely mislead reporters assigned to cover Mr. Trump, allowing the press to report that he was traveling on board a plane that was being used as a decoy.

Since then, Berulis has laid low. He filed a police report, included in the suit and viewed by WIRED, and had the car seen by a mechanic who, according to the report, found “that the driver-side front impact/airbag sensor had also been removed but noted that the remaining wires had been spliced together, completing the circuit in a manner that prevented the vehicle from detecting or logging the missing component, while also preventing the vehicle from activating its safety protocols, alerting the driver, or engaging limp mode.” The police report also indicates that fingerprints had been found on Berulis’ car. According to the police report, the case is now “inactive,” “due to the lack of any specific suspect information,” though the police’s intelligence unit was notified.

Even while denying the significance of Trump's ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the Trump family has cultivated friendships with the Tate brothers, and the Trump Administration has intervened on their behalf with Romanian authorities. A lot of the US far right is in bed with them, so to speak:
Tate made a deal with the right-wing streaming service Rumble, which had recently received major investments from Peter Thiel, the tech billionaire, and J. D. Vance, Trump’s future Vice-President. The details have not previously been confirmed, but a confidential contract shows an agreement to pay Tate at least six million dollars a year for a weekly quota of five short videos and a thirty-minute live stream. His presence inspired a forty-five-per-cent increase in active users, sending Rumble to first place on the Apple and Google charts. A few months later, Elon Musk bought Twitter and reinstated Tate’s account.

When Tate was arrested on human-trafficking charges, his allies defended him. Donald Trump, Jr., called the case “absolute insanity,” and Musk suggested that the authorities were targeting the Tates while ignoring “actual sex trafficking.” Carlson, who had just released a documentary called “The End of Men,” devoted hours of airtime to proclaiming Tate’s innocence; so did the right-wing podcaster Candace Owens. The activist Charlie Kirk praised him onstage. “What he says is so powerful,” Kirk said. “Our society is configured towards collapsing the American man.”
