On the day after the referendum I remember saying to someone "the worst thing about this is we're going to leave and then we're going to spend the next 20 years trying to get back in and by then I'll be retirement age..."

Nigel Farage pivots on economy - will his original supporters be in favour?

Problem with the triple lock is it's unsustainable in the long-term (just mathematically) + it's incredibly senstitive to economic shocks. Better just to say we want the pension to be X% of earnings + make it generous enough to live.

Farage posted this at 12.38 today. It has been hopelessly overtaken by events and shown to be entirely wrong (British nationals involved and they've been released on bail - not very terrorist-like). And if you believe anything Trump says, you are a credulous moron.

... going back to PISA(as an example), we *can* say it's mostly *not* migrant selection and it *is* partly less sorting by school. That's useful. Is it "policy"? Partly but not wholly - but that's a *qual* judgment not a model. Should we be "proud"? Yes!

I'd argue that the use of "illegal immigration" being used as a derogatory label for asylum seekers as well as legal immigration has been pushed strongly by the Right, maybe even including the Tories, as a way of legitimising racism under the mendacious label of "legitimate concerns".

Mahmood's rationale remains the same. Fewer (legal, working) migrants => less racism Nothing to do with integration. No evidence. I'd add this *doesn't* show she hates immigrants (FTAOD don't think she does). It shows her contempt/distrust/fear of ordinary Brits.
