The Roberts Report. How the ABC was stooged by the Israel lobby - Michael West
Last month, the ABC platformed an Israel lobbyist without disclosure in blatant breach of much that the once-venerable broadcaster purports to stand for.

Why the government must shut down AI colonialism
Nearly two weeks ago, one of the most ethically loose administrations in the living memory of the United States agreed to a ‘morally binding’ accord with some of the biggest tech firms on the planet.

In 1987 Pat Buchanan astutely remarked that "the greatest vacuum in American politics is to the right of Ronald Reagan." That is where the GOP now is. So let’s see where they’re headed…i.e. towards the abyss to the right of Trump. Take Jesse Kelley’s respect for Trump’s “restraint” as an example.

I sympathize and admire Trump's restraint. He's a man with reverence for the office and he wants things to return to normal. He believes his good conduct can help that along.
He's dead wrong, of course. Communists only understand fear and pain.
But still, I admire it.

It seems (from an outside observer position) that the inquiry will come to a recommendation on copyright and the government will use that to break what they see as a "stalemate". Creators aren't getting paid now, and AI companies aren't training here. The government really wants the latter.

Let’s be clear. AI is not an intelligence; it’s not being trained, it doesn’t think, it doesn’t have agency, it's not gone rogue and it’s not alive. Humanising it helps Big Tech bypass laws they’ve already broken and weaken laws they’re keen to flout. Read on: thepoint.com.au/opinions/261...

Basically AI allows software engineers to produce shitty code *faster* and in higher volumes which increases the amount time spent on code reviews and revisions nullifying the productivity gained from producing the code in the first place.

Remember that the Productivity Commission said AI would improve productivity because "Hypothetically, eight programmers, eight laptops and 80% of an office could now produce what previously took ten programmers, ten laptops and an entire office." FMD.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if AI can't improve productivity of coding, then all other claims about productivity improvements are essentially horseshit. Coding was the one thing everyone was like "well yeah of course it will be able to do that faster"
