“Zombie arguments” are arguments that have been debunked years ago, but whenever a new generation of conspiracists comes on board they get resurrected and trotted out. Like, “Vaccines cause autism.” But, I think the oldest must be, “these immigrants don’t assimilate like those of yesteryear.”

@benryanwriter.bsky.social lies AGAIN about gender affirming care, claiming there's "no evidence that ... surgeries reduce suicides." This is the same bullshit claim about COMPLETED suicides that he repeats ad nauseum and which has been debunked over and over.

@benryanwriter.bsky.social Ben Ryan is lying again and it is so annoying. He says the Guardian is making “false or unsupported claims” about pediatric gender care. He claims that “[g]Ender treatments do not “demonstrably” reduce suicide” because they don’t reduce completed suicides. A lie!

The race realists pointed to this map today. The top 100 runners of the 10,000m race. Kenya and Ethiopia. Pretty good evidence, right? Except, where are the genes for being born near where world-renowned running coach Colm O’Connell is doing his mission work?

Republicans seem to have completely forgotten what ACTUALLY happened in the pandemic. Jan 3, 2020, Fauci learns of 44 cases of an unknown flu in China. By the end of March, there were 100,000 cases in the US and 1,700 deaths! We need an HBO prestige drama or Ken Burns treatment here.

Hey, when I searched for the Fauci diaries, I found two versions. One, directly from Paul’s office, includes redactions. Another, from the Brownstone Institute, which they say they had Claude reformat the diaries, doesn’t. Did they have an unredacted version, or did Claude fudge the contents?

Wong Kim Ark was decided in 1898 on a 6-2 split. Plessy v Ferguson, the “separate but equal” decision, was only 2 years earlier. All 6 justices who joined the Wong decision were on the Plessy court. This current court, with its 5-4 split, is WORSE on citizenship rights than the Plessy court!

The whole debate about the 14th Amendment started up again in response to Barack Obama. Birthers, having struck out in claiming he was born in Kenya hit on the nonsense claim that since his dad was a student, he wasn’t REALLY American. There’s a direct line from Orly Taitz to yesterday’s ruling!

Republicans’ newest conspiracy theory in the LA mayor race is that the only signatures being rejected by the automatic signature verification system are those of Pratt supporters. Problem? The signatures are on the OUTSIDE of a sealed envelope, which is only opened AFTER signature is validated!
A photo of how election workers must be finding Pratt supporters’ ballots in sealed envelopes.

It’s a photo of Johnny Carson doing his Carmac the Magnificent impression, holding a sealed envelope to his head. Carson wears a turban and guesses the contents of the envelopes - the guess is a mundane answer to an unrevealed question, but then the question makes the answer into a punchline.

The Minneapolis protesters were remarkable for how peaceful and restrained they were in the face of brutality. It’s why nearly all the charges against them haven’t held up in court. Seeking out footage to the contrary isn’t “telling the whole story.” It’s constructing a false narrative.

Libertarian challenge: go a day without “well actually, attraction to a teenager is hebephilia…” Difficulty: Impossible
A tweet from Richard Hanania:

“The idea that teenage boys can be sexually molested by their teachers "combines the stupidest fascist impulses of the right with the stupidest feminist arguments that exist on the left."
This is worth fighting because it's uniquely disgusting.”“Shannon O'Connor, a woman from Los Gatos, California, allowed her teenager to host parties with sex and alcohol.
She is not accused of having sexual contact with anyone.

For this, she was sentenced to 36 YEARS in prison! 16 felonies and over a dozen misdemeanors.”

And a community comment:

“Shannon O'Connor was found guilty of 48 charges including sexual penetration of an intoxicated victim, influencing a child to engage in sexual activity with another child, and annoying or molesting a child..”

The 'panic' around Lia Thomas was about creating a target people could point at while demanding exclusion. So much of what people “know” about Lia comes from manufactured outrage and years of misinformation repeated without context. We commissioned this comic to break down the actual story. 1/2
Cartoon of Lia Thomas with purple hair, smiling and holding a trophy, making a peace sign. Background features a trans flag and text about sports inclusivity.A swimmer in the water with text overlay: "Lia's college swimming career began in 2017. Aged 18, she joined the University of Pennsylvania men's swimming team. Like most young athletes, her performances improved with age and experience."Swimmer's in the water with text overlay: "Her overall best US ranking in the men's competition was 11th after placing 1st and 2nd in several events, including the 200 and 500 yard freestyle between 2017 and 2019."A swimmer looking at the water in a red swimming costume and bathing cap, with a text overlay: "In 2019 she started HRT as part of her transition. Her performances dropped dramatically. She ranked 65th in the 500 yard free and 554th in the 200 yard free. Overall her US ranking dropped to 63rd."
