when building PCs i have seen people talk about a "white tax" where you pay a premium for the component, case, graphics card, whatever to simply not be painted black. i was really not expecting to see this dynamic replicate itself in, of all places, the toilet plunger industry
black toilet plunger: $21
white toilet plunger: $31

Should native app screen titles be headings? - TetraLogical
Many screens in native apps include a screen title that summarises the contents of the screen, but these titles are often not identified as headings to screen readers. In this post, we look into some ...

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Tried to quote tweet this but couldn’t - so sharing in screenshot. Faber has introduced a ‘Human Written’ maker’s mark for Sarah Hall’s new book, with Hall’s US publisher following suit. I think others are planning to do it too.

"Al Free" needs to become almost like a brand, a logo, a recognisable high watermark seal of quality. Companies should be clambering over one another to attain this prestigious accreditation. Companies that have gone all-in on Al will have to bear the cost of having it removed, like asbestos.Corner of the front cover of Sarah Hall’s new novel Helm, which shows a circular wordmark reading ‘Human Written’.

It’s that or the time Don Henley asked him to sign his copy of Pet Sounds. Brian wrote “To Don, thanks for all the great music”, paused, then struck out the word ‘great’.

My favourite Brian Wilson story was when Bono kneeled at his feet backstage & waxed lyrical about his influence, the power of music, transcendent, etc. After several minutes of this he interrupted Bono by saying “Say, could you go get me a Coke?” (In fairness, he apparently did)
