'keep moving' and 'skip ahead to fill in gaps' (with no chance of returning to see the panels missed) - which failed to recognise that people actually wanted to see the tapestry ... by the end I felt really hassled, despite moving at pace. A very mixed experience, tilting to the disappointing. 2/2

Realised a long-held ambition on Friday, when I saw the Bayeux Tapestry on Day 2 of the @britishmuseum.bsky.social exhibition - but real teething problems on show. We queued for 1 hr 30+ after our timed entry slot before seeing it & viewed it to a constant refrain, from recordings and guides, of 1/2

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. The Times reports a conversation with Exeter University classicist Dr Emily Hauser after a a lecture at the Chalke History Festival, regarding the proposed redundancies (150) at that university, especially in Humanities and Social Sciences. The redundance announcement was made during an online meeting. Staff were not permitted to ask questions at the meeting, The Times reports.

This is very much a real thing; even if a bunch of media outlets reported it quite sloppily and some of the numbers ended up needlessly overstated. If this was a normal industry it'd just be a fixable planning consideration. But tech is panic-building thousands so it's something bigger
