QRP with your skull art! 💀🐴
Digital black and white ink illustration, title at bottom: Metempsychosis. A horse skull viewed from below and to the side, as if it is looking up to the right while you are standing below it. The skull is taking up most of the square canvas. Its jaw is carved in curled filigree. Roots come from the bottom of the canvas to grasp and wrap around and through the skull. Blooming out of the skull's eye is a Rafflesia flower, and a mass of 10 hands come out of the center of it, reaching up and out beyond the top left of the canvas. Out of the back of the skull's head is a flowing mass of hair. The background shows a large bare tree with numerous bare branches, viewed as if looking straight up at it. The piece is shaded in selective hatching.

One thing the doomers don't seem to realize is that, eventually, these people will fail. They always do. All doomerism does is make their defeat last longer, and enable things to get way worse than they would if we fought them hard *now*. Why let it get so bad that we have to have, like, a war?

An orange and white tipped nudibranch, Antiopella fusca, photograph against very dark kelp. It looks like a floating blob of translucent bulbs. White lined dirona nudi, Dirona albolineata, looking majestic against a dark background. Shriiiiimp. A Pandalus danae/ dock shrimp looking like it’s posing for the cameraA gunnel looking cool. Maybe a crescent gunnel/ Pholis laeta. They are not eels, just long fish. This sorta thing matters.

Sounds great.
According to experts I interviewed, the internet is about to get more frustrating. These agents may cause a cascading chain of problems that shake the foundations of digital infrastructure. Chances are good that you're about to live through an era of online chaos.
The internet was built for humans with limited time and patience. AIs don't have those restraints. You'll probably have to fight with robots over concert tickets and booking appointments. Small businesses could drown in machine-made pestering. AIs don't look at ads, and websites that rely on them are already crumbling. You'll be buried in endless loops of proving you're human. And if you use these AI tools, some may betray you.

"What the hell was that?" I asked. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"You expect me to pick a fight with a crazy person?"
"No!" Even I could hear myself sounding hysterical.
"I don't expect you to pick a fight with a crazy person, I expect you to say something for me!"
My friend had a point. If a guy is so determined to own the sidewalk that he'll literally behave like a rabid animal about it, he might indeed take any remark about his behavior amiss, perhaps even as an invitation to fight. But I had a point, too. As long as my friend said nothing on my behalf, the lone man correctly figured it was just him against some girl. He could take me. We both knew it. I wasn't looking for a protector; I was looking for backup. For someone to take my hand and assure me that whatever happened, it would not be one against one.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.
