Latest WSJ poll: "63% want to pause AI development 61% want a billionaire wealth tax 59% want Medicare for All 57% want a $20 minimum wage 58% want to end U.S. military aid to Israel" This is the center of the country politically. it is time all adjust to this political spectrum, esp. media.

How scared are Missouri Republicans about their anti-abortion amendment not passing in November? They are running commercials that don’t even mention the amendment will ban abortion… because they know we already gave women the constitutional right to abortion. VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT 3.

Listen purity Dems. Your protest vote or non-vote won't "bring on the revolution" - it will only speed up the end of civilization. I suspect you don't care, which makes you complicit. But if you DO care, please open your eyes and let's get rid of the fascists if we even still can? Thanks, nice chat.

Trump wanting to give parts of Yosemite away to a private developer just shows how we can’t have anything nice at all with him in charge. Our entire country is being demolished and sold piece by piece in tacky grifts to help his “friends”.

I heard an Ed Markey interview today. He has nothing to say except that his opponent is bad. He is 80 years old!!! He sounds like every other politician. He endorsed El-Sayed for MI (fine). When asked “why?” Markey said, “well, his polling looked good.” Boston, MA, you deserve better

The Stop Insider Trading Act is a fraud and not the ban Americans are calling for. It's an attempt to pretend to address corruption while putting lawmakers' profits over the public good. Congress should listen to the people and pass the Restore Trust in Congress Act.

"Job creators" are a myth. Corporations hire humans when they HAVE to. The minute that humans can be replaced by machines, AI, or low-wage workers overseas, corporations jump at the chance to "downsize." Job creation is not the goal: job elimination is.

We cut down the trees and then wonder why the Earth is getting hotter. The shade we destroyed yesterday is the heat we are suffering from now. A tree is not just wood—it is oxygen, rain, cool air, shelter, and life. Plant trees. Protect forests.

Worth a read You might think higher ed is b.s. (and a lot of it is), but anti-democracy movements all start by attacking universities. There's something about people reading and thinking and sharing ideas that is very threatening to autocrats. Remember Drumpf saying, "I love the poorly educated."

Platner is a bad guy, & soon we will learn he is WORSE than we thought. There are too many red flags and bad life choices. The Dem party can’t say “vote blue no matter who” if they don’t do their part to find (and vet) decent candidates. If I wanted unthinking tribalism, I’d be a republican

Whew, one of the House Judiciary subcommittees is holding a hearing about court expansion today, and Rep. Hank Johnson (the subcommittee's highest ranking Democrat) delivered a sermon I just transcribed a paragraph that really resonated
screenshotted text reading as follows--

Rep. Hank Johnson: Abraham Lincoln once said “This government cannot endure half slave and half free.” Yet, that seems to be the vision for America that Chief Justice Roberts and the conservative supermajority of the Supreme Court envision. Where some enjoy easy access to the ballot, others are forced to overcome legal barriers designed to make our voices quieter. Our nation is now in Jim Crow 2.0. We are a nation where the right to vote once again can be diluted, restricted, or simply ignored, and where the voices of rich and powerful people carry more weight than the voices of ordinary Americans, but particularly Americans who look like me. Our 250-year experiment in self-governance can only succeed if Americans decide that the clock has run out on the far right’s attempt to overturn our democracy. So, we can either sit back as our Supreme Court continues to act without any restraint or checks and balances, or, we can do something about it. The American people deserve accountability for the damage that has been done. The American people deserve a judiciary that serves our democracy, not a narrow ideological agenda that only benefits the rich and powerful.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.
