i keep forgetting about bluesky when i post new exciting things. anyway i wrote a poem. the title is a joke. mostly.

sympathy for the devil

my stepmother told me a story
and it made me think of another

when my dad was in the army
when i was in seventh grade

he was given a general discharge
i was given extended detention

he was caught doing drugs
i was caught stealing

but he didn't do them alone
but i didn't do it alone

he took the fall for his brothers-in-arms
i took the fall for a girl i barely knew

so he would be the only one punished
so she would feel less heat at home

he was afraid one day i'd turn out like him
i did my best to not turn out like him

because he saw a mirror of his anger in me
because i saw a mirror of my sadness in him

i wish we had seen the good we shared there
i think we both would have been less afraid

He still needs to be removed from office. A war powers resolution will not suffice. He circumvented Congress to start the war. He circumvented them on tariffs and appropriations. Why anyone thinks he'd adhere to a Congressional war powers resolution is beyond me.

i experienced what it was like to slip on a banana peel, except instead of a banana peel, it was going into a walk in fridge without nonslip shoes. my feet flew up in front of my face and then i landed flat on my back and smacked my head. i avoided a concussion by being short, apparently.
