But it was hard. Ngl one of *many* reasons I left was needing more age diversity in my life (whole village was post-retirement). Now in campus ministry events I’m the oldest in the room by 30 years not the youngest by 15. 180deg change! The parish itself tilts older bur also has young fams.

I served a post-retirement parish before moving to Clemson. There were 3 people under 60 including me. We offered a lot on zoom for those who wouldn’t /couldn’t drive after dark. It was the one silver lining of the pandemic—getting so many of us semi-competent and equipped for hybrid events.

One of our campus ministry’s student peer ministers is an Agricultural Education major. On our retreat this wkend he picked sassafras roots & taught us about s. tea & also stopped at a roadside stand on the drive home to introduce me and another northerner to boiled peanuts & pork rinds. ⚓️

At clericus today, someone said “being an associate rector *with a good rector* is the best job in the Episcopal Church” and in my experience that’s true. I’ve been ordained 16 years and so far this position is in a class by itself. So happy!⚓️

Found the answer to my question on their FB Page. 3 ballots. Alexander had required votes in clergy out of the gate and Purdy had the most but not enough in lay. Second ballot more clergy went to Alexander, lay stayed with Purdy. Third enough lay (plus even more clergy) moved over to Alexander. ⚓️
