Over the decades, scholars have proposed many interpretations: A fertility figure, amother goddess, a good‑luck totem, an aphrodisiac, even a self‑portrait, made by a woman looking down at her own body, explaining the proportions and facelessness. On display at Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna. 2/2
A side view of the female figurine displayed against a dark museum background. The figure has a large rounded belly, prominent breasts, broad hips, and short legs, feet broken off, thin arm crossing the chest. Its head is covered in layered, horizontally carved bands, no facial features, and the sculpture is mounted on a thin support rod.
