Hey @michellegoldberg.bsky.social this kind of thinking belongs back in 2004. Leftist policies are broadly popular and will help to rebuild working class support for progressive parties. The truth is that *Democratic leadership* hates leftist policies. At least admit that.
There are more conservatives than leftists in America, and in our system, conservative, rural areas of the country have more electoral power. Democrats will have a far harder time than Republicans building power with a stridently sectarian message.

One of today's political prisoners. Cartoonist & zine maker Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada wasn't even at the ICE protest. He was accused of "moving" a box of anti-Trump zines THE NEXT DAY. A rightwing judge sentenced him to 30 years! Just for possessing zines. The darkness is descending.

we JUST saw that you can cut their funding. cut ICE funding by 100% and fund the restructured dept. force Trump to shut down the govt to avoid it. your problem is you have capitulated to Republicans in advance, and insist that there's no way we can make a better world. thats loser shit.

ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
they turned an 80/20 bipartisan issue into a controversial, partisan one. the ACA was based on Republican created policy. Democrats aren't even trying to foment that kind of opposition to ICE, which is a naturally unpopular policy the same way ACA was naturally popular! Israel policy is the same way

ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
the difference here is that the *base* wants the SAVE Act. the Republican Party doesnt care. similarly, the Democrat Party shuts down a lot of things the base wants and then makes excuses about having "variances" and parlimentarians. we can see DNC leaderhsip has no interest in progressive policy.

ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
Yet though the Republicans couldn't repeal the ACA, they did everything to make sure people hated "Obamacare", a fiction they invented. Were positions reversed, ICE abolishment would actually be feasible in 2027. Ds have failed at successful opposition for years, and incompetence is not the reason.
100
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
That's so fucking naive. A real party doesnt act like that. Republicans very rarely have this issue when they actually want something, the ACA being a notable exception. When people break party ranks (like the recent SAVE act), that party doesn't actually care about the success/failure of that bill.
100
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Because they don't really want to get rid of it, just like centrist Dems like yourself don't want to replace it with single-payer. I dont care about slogans, I want ICE abolished. Then it was Lieberman and today it's Jared Golden, its called a rotating villain and its why the Dems are useless.
100
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Why were there Senate Dems that opposed it when Obama ran on it? Talk about closet Republicans. If Dems were as serious about ICE as Reps were about ACA, theyd all be sayin "Abolish ICE" but because the leadership is controlled opposition, they talk of useless "reform" that they cant even get!
100
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
2009-10 they fought every Democratic Senate appt as long as they could to delay the 60 seat majority as long as possible, prevented the public option, and organized a massive media campaign against Obamacare, meanwhile most Dems arent even supporting ICE protesters. and reps will ditch the p'tarian
100
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
No, I'm saying that the establishment Democrats are doing fuck all. I don't count useless gestures. Republicans get shit done when the Dems control Congress. Just look at Obama and Biden's terms, e.g. faffing about with "parlimentarians". There is more they can do. They are the "closet Republicans".

ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Sorry, you need to remember the context here. you were SO CERTAIN that one of the Democratic "wins" was ICE reform, and yet YOU failed to account for reconciliation. a loss is a loss, i dont care what civic process was used. you were fucking wrong

"in charge" isnt determined by elections, its determined by the party. if the Democratic party is run by liberals, then those are the liberals im talking about. you wanna know who, thats who. im not painting with a broad brush, just answering your question

liberals have argued with me here on bluesky saying that the democrats in congress are getting shit done. thats close enough for me. and then you have every corporate democrat or third way idiot. but hey if no "liberals" are supporting them then why are they still in charge?

As Ursula K. Le Guin taught us: "We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words."

i dont care what you call yourself, if youre out there doing the work (like you did), then i judge you by your actions. but if "liberals" are out there saying that chuck schumer and hakeem jeffries are leaders of their movement, well then i judge them by their inaction.

you could get it in Japan, though. nothing about "universal health care" inherently means you couldn't, which is why you cherry-picked England. the fact is that more lives would have been saved by universal care than the ACA.

that's wrong, but as long as dems keep blaming the voters like this, they'll continue to stay unpopular

and yet democrats poll even worse than republicans right now. wonder why?
110
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
so you admit it WAS a meaningless gesture? no one is going to show up at the polls for a party that can't even pass meaningless gestures. "but but but we're in the minority" you absolute cuck
020
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
yeah because Obama didnt implement universal health care. he did a shitty other thing. why are you basing your idea of what people like on a bullshit health policy written by republicans?
120
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
that's not my point; the point is that people are desperate for the same affordable health care that EVERY OTHER OECD NATION HAS. it's not "50 points underwater" unless you're talking to insurance lobbyists

ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
The Iran resolution would've passed with enough Democrat votes. Democrats "blocking" of nominees is worthless theater. The longest shutdown didn't get anything meaningful from it. "flipped the script on healthcare" wtf is this meaningless phrase, and ICE? body cams for the jackbooted thugs.
140
ghostDunk @ghostdunk.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
single-payer means exactly that. nothing about universal healthcare requires the gov't choose your doctor. your weird corner case wouldn't happen in a competent universal healthcare system. meanwhile americans hate the current system so much a dude blew a CEOs brains out and people fucking love him
