Disability doesn’t care how old you are. Specialist food is no cheaper if you’re 19. Employers don’t lose their prejudice if you’re 21. This is blatant intergenerational inequality from Labour. Younger disabled people of all severities deserve better. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

This temple’s a bit busted.
A ruined temple with lots of vegetation. Steps rise up to a dais with a low, black-topped altar. Behind it is an archway leading out. The carvings on the wall retain some red and white colour. The same ruined temple from one side. Steps rise up to a dais with a low, black-topped altar. This wall is heavily covered with bushes and creepers, some of which are in flower. The altar can be seen over the top of the wall. The back of the ruined temple. Steps rise up to the archway we could see from the front. The steps are fairly clear but the rest is covered in plants. Ancient ruins in the woods
An old green John Deere combine harvester, quite overgrown among the trees. We’re looking at it from the right rear - the front with the blades is well-hidden among brambles.

Last day of work.
A bratwurst in a toasted brioche bun with pickles and mustard is in the foreground. In the background there are sand dunes, a path down to the beach, a wild sauna, a beach safety sign and the North Sea. It is gloriously sunny, even though it’s the last day of September.

Most of Burnham's promises were for policies to be introduced after the next GE, the national care service, reform of the voting system, closer ties with the EU, all put off until after the next GE - political code for ‘never’. It was a very traditional Labour speech, the jam is always tomorrow.

Wouldn’t disagree with much that Burnham said today in what was an excellent speech. But… 90% of the substance is focused on England catching up with Scotland (Bus fares, rail nationalisation, water in public control, free social care and PR in elections). Not much for Scotland except Unionism!

For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.
Joint statement from National TULO

Solidarity with the trans and non-binary community

Labour's 11 affiliated trade unions stand in total solidarity with the trans and non-binary community.

Trans rights are human rights, and trans rights are workers' rights.

We in the trade union movement will do all we can to stand up for our trans members and all our trans siblings, to protect them from persecution, harassment and attack.

The government must act now to protect all trans people, to make sure their rights are protected, expanded and upheld in our workplaces and communities.

So many of this type in politics (Starmer, not OP). Entitled pricks who think they're due a turn. Not fighting FOR anything, not wanting to change things for the better, just filled with the unshakable belief that they are BETTER & removing the incumbent by any means necessary is therefore justified

It really sets in stark relief the asymmetry of coverage of the "debate" over trans and women's rights across our media. On the GC side court losses are reported as wins, racism is glossed over and hate is endlessly sane-washed. Meanwhile successes on the pro-trans side are met with silence or lies.

The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn. Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all. There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.
Patrick Maguire
Chief Political Commentator Oliver Wright Policy Editor

Falling migration numbers could cost the chancellor as much as £7bn in fiscal headroom as he writes his first budget, The Times has been told.
Government insiders believe that John Healey, who already faced an uphill battle to balance the books next month, is likely to have an even bigger challenge after immigration undershot projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
The Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank estimated last month that the success of Shabana
Mahmood's
reforms, which have cut net migration to the low hundreds of thousands, could cost Healey some £4bn.

In no sense do I wish to excuse it, but I don't think it's due to absolute poverty. It's because none of the establishment parties offer a believable prospect of improvement. When you get any hint of it - Corbyn, Polanski - people flock there. And then the establishment do their best to crush it.

If we are serious about stopping ‘rogue’ AI agents, we need to create one that seeks out and erases debt - student loans, medical debt, mortgages, car finance - all of it. AI would be on the shortest of leashes before you could say ’interest rate’.
