People getting excited or agitated by Burnham's speech need to remember that at the moment this is just words. Need to see action - and fast. The triple-lock thing is a red herring. The real sign of change will be with Healey's budget - at the moment it is just platitudes.

Why has Chris Bryant not been urgently dispatched to Portadown to deal with this? Innefective management from @labouruk.bsky.social or just indifference? Looks very much like NI is on its own under Labour so maybe it's time for a #Unity poll to see if people would prefer running their own affairs.

High-mileage electric cars are more reliable than petrol ones, study finds
EVs with 90,000 to 120,000 miles on the clock are more likely to pass MOTs than petrol models of the same age Motorists buying a secondhand car with a lot of miles on the clock are likely to find an electric vehicle (EV) ultimately more reliable than a petrol vehicle, according to a study. An analysis of 47.4m MOT tests found that after cars were driven 90,000 to 120,000 miles, EVs were about 25% less likely to fail than petrol models of the same age (based on a failure rate of 16.5% versus 22.1%). It’s time to stop adhering to a decade-old referendum that caused us nothing but problems. An increasingly volatile world now changes faster, year on year. The days of Empire are long gone. We cannot survive alone. We need the power/safety of our neighbours. Unity not isolation.

You’re going to hear a lot about how this crisis is about government borrowing levels. That’s largely bullshit. The cause of the global bond sell-off was investors freaking out about inflation - not governments spending too much money. graceblakeley.substack.com/p/whos-afrai...

Who’s afraid of the bond vigilantes?
This week’s bond sell-off wasn't about government profligacy - it was about war, oil, and inflation. And as ever, it's the global South paying the price.

London's Cycleways network now stretches a whopping 450km. That’s even further than the distance from London to Paris. And with 1.5 million daily cycle journeys, it's helping transform how Londoners travel, improving health and cleaning our air.
Graphic with a dark purple background. A white Mayor of London logo appears at the top, above the large headline “More ways to ride.” Below is a photograph of three cyclists riding along a London cycleway, with the lead cyclist in the foreground and bollards separating the cycle lane from the pavement. White text at the bottom reads: “London now has 450km of cycleways, which means we’ve grown the cycling network by five times since 2016, making journeys safer and easier for everyone.”
