Few people know PyPI as deeply as Ee. Moving from PSF staff to serving on the Board also says a great deal about how much they care about the future of this community.

I’m also very happy to be serving alongside the other elected directors. @elainew.bsky.social's passion for the community is enormous. What many people saw from her leadership at PyCon US is only the tip of the iceberg.

For the first time, the @thepsf.bsky.social has a proper strategic framework for where the PSF is going and what we're building together. Read: www.python.org/psf/strategy/

I was quiet yesterday because we were finalising the PSF strategic plan while @jezdez.dev, reviewed the last version. It was published same day as the election results.

Thank you to the 421 people who voted for me. Wow. My following is probably smaller than that 😅 so thank you. I wrote my nomination at PyLATAM in CR and heard results at PyLadies Dublin. @whykay.bsky.social told me how much a PSF visit meant. The number in the room doesn't matter. Showing up does.🧵

I haven’t talked much about it, but I’m running for the board again this year 😊 . I would like to continue the work I started with the board, build on what we’ve achieved, and finish what’s still unfinished. Voting is now opened till 15th September.

The PSF D&I Workgroup Are Starting Office Hours in July!
Doing diversity and inclusion work in tech can feel isolating sometimes. You might be organizing a meetup, writing a code of conduct, trying to get funding for your community, or helping people feel welcome, often in your spare time, and wondering if anyone else is wrestling with the same things.

PyConSG keynote was a personal one. I was invited to talk about AI + education, but ended up sharing why I walked away from teacher training in Singapore more than 20 years ago. The conversations afterwards made me realise it was not only my story. georgiker.com/blog/ai-did-...

🥹 5,600 contributions and $500k! This comes from YOU. It's a game-changer for @python.org. It proves that Python is more than a language, it’s a community of people who believe in building together. Thank you to every contributor. You're the foundation ❤️ P.S: @cheuk.dev is glad to keep her hair.

As the PSF heads into our end-of-year fundraiser this month, we want to “connect the dots” and share a full picture of our current financial outlook: what’s happening, why, and how you can help sustain the future of Python and the PSF. 🧵

Connecting the Dots: Understanding the PSF’s Current Financial Outlook
As the PSF heads into our end-of-year fundraiser, we want to share information to help “connect the dots” and show a more complete picture of the PSF’s current financial outlook. You’ve heard from us on subjects related to our financial position from several different angles recently (a list of those posts is below). We’ve prioritized proactive communications, because we believe in transparency, we have trust in our community, and we value keeping you informed— we know how invested in and impacted by our work you are. We now want to pull those threads together in order to create some shared clarity on the big picture, and, hopefully, inspire you to action to support our fundraising efforts.

By late August, @elainew.bsky.social and Jon Banafato chose this year’s theme: Synthwave. That’s when the real fun begins with design, color, and a bit of Python magic.

Right after each @pycon.us @python.org (usually at thank-you dinner), Ee Durbin, @lorencrary.bsky.social, and Olivia Sauls ask the question: “How can we make next year even better?” That’s when ideas start flying : Hollywood, haunted houses, surfer sunsets before conf chairs make the final call.

It was the right thing to do. It wouldn’t be worthwhile if we couldn’t stand behind the diverse communities that form the backbone of Python. It’s tough cos the ecosystem is expanding faster than resources. Sustaining takes real funding and responsibilities. Our year-end fundraising is coming soon.

The PSF Grants Program has been temporarily paused after hitting our 2025 funding cap early. It was an extremely difficult but necessary decision to ensure the program and foundation’s near and long term sustainability. Learn more on our blog: pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/08/the-...

The PSF has paused our Grants Program
Effective August 1st, 2025, the PSF is temporarily pausing our Grants Program after reaching our 2025 grant budget cap earlier than expected. We know how important this program is to many in our community and making this decision was difficult. This is a necessary step to protect both the future of the program and the short- and long-term sustainability of the PSF. (If this moves you immediately to donate to the PSF, we welcome your contributions via our donations page).
