Doing diversity and inclusion work in tech can feel isolating sometimes. You might be organizing a meetup, writing a code of conduct, trying to get funding for your community, or helping people feel welcome, often in your spare time, and wondering if anyone else is wrestling with the same things.

As the PSF heads into our end-of-year fundraiser, we want to share information to help “connect the dots” and show a more complete picture of the PSF’s current financial outlook. You’ve heard from us on subjects related to our financial position from several different angles recently (a list of those posts is below). We’ve prioritized proactive communications, because we believe in transparency, we have trust in our community, and we value keeping you informed— we know how invested in and impacted by our work you are. We now want to pull those threads together in order to create some shared clarity on the big picture, and, hopefully, inspire you to action to support our fundraising efforts.

PyCon US 2026

Effective August 1st, 2025, the PSF is temporarily pausing our Grants Program after reaching our 2025 grant budget cap earlier than expected. We know how important this program is to many in our community and making this decision was difficult. This is a necessary step to protect both the future of the program and the short- and long-term sustainability of the PSF. (If this moves you immediately to donate to the PSF, we welcome your contributions via our donations page).

This is an informal, unscientific survey of (sort of) Python questions, with which I'd like to try to make something amusing, maybe something involving families feuding somehow. (I may have been inspired by https://www.theincomparable.com/gameshow/feud/.) Whether it works depends partly on how many and what kind of answers people give. There is intentionally no rigor to these questions. The vagueness is on purpose. Answer with the first thing that comes to mind. Don't try to over-think it, the point isn't to get the "right" answers. If you really don't know how to answer a question it's okay to leave it blank, but it's more fun if you try to answer anyway. I promise not to ridicule any individual answers, so don't hold back! I will clean up responses, remove any identifying data, and not tie anything to individuals in any way. After I'm done with the responses (which may take a while), I'll post the aggregated, cleaned-up set for other people to enjoy.
