The PSF's Strategic Plan full draft is available and we want your feedback. After sharing high-level goals in May, we're opening a 3-week community feedback window. Read the full draft and tell us: Are these the right goals? Is anything missing? #Python #PyPI pyfound.blogspot.com/2026/06/psf-...

Looking for examples: do you know any OSS projects that have thoughtfully updated their contribution process for AI-assisted PRs? Interested in: * PR templates asking for intent/reasoning * Comprehension checks * Other friction-adding methods Would love to learn from communities experimenting here

The U.S.'s current anti-diversity efforts are, predictably, having a direct affect on funding of #OpenSource software security efforts. I hope other sources - both public & private - will step up to help fund the essential role of open source software stewards.

Exciting work on BLAS/LAPACK packaging!📦 As part of bringing better BLAS/LAPACK support to Meson, Michał Górny learned a lot about how these essential libraries differ across implementations and distributions, and he is sharing it all with the community. 📖 Dive into the details: buff.ly/JAxtRop

The PSF Grants Program has been temporarily paused after hitting our 2025 funding cap early. It was an extremely difficult but necessary decision to ensure the program and foundation’s near and long term sustainability. Learn more on our blog: pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/08/the-...

The PSF has paused our Grants Program
Effective August 1st, 2025, the PSF is temporarily pausing our Grants Program after reaching our 2025 grant budget cap earlier than expected. We know how important this program is to many in our community and making this decision was difficult. This is a necessary step to protect both the future of the program and the short- and long-term sustainability of the PSF. (If this moves you immediately to donate to the PSF, we welcome your contributions via our donations page).

I posted this last week, asking for #Python users to fill out a silly little survey. I got quite a few responses! I can use this! It'll be hilarious! I can still use more answers, though. I hope with a few more responses I get more obvious standouts answers. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

PSF Grants Program 2024 Transparency Report
The PSF’s Grants Program is a key plank in our charitable mission to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language and to support and facilitate the growth of a diverse and international community of Python programmers. After much research, input, and analysis, the PSF is pleased to share the PSF Grants Program 2024 Transparency Report. The report includes context, numbers, analysis, and next steps for the Program. Similar to our PSF Grants Program 2022 & 2023 Transparency Report, this 2024 report reflects the outcome of a significant amount of work. There are some differences in the position we are in as we approached the development of this report:
