A cutaway view of a stone tower containing an elaborate water-powered medieval geared machine. Rising out of the machine is a rainbow-tinted, pixelated God with the robes, beard and all. To one side of this scene is a cluster of tiny people in Jesus-era robes, falling about themselves in religious ecstasy all over a stone staircase, atop of which stands a robed priest with his hands upraised. The background is a set of shining golden rays, emanating from pixel-God.

Look. I don't disagree with people saying that the solution to the bike lane law is political: vote Ford out. But can we acknowledge that the places with the bike lanes didn't vote Ford in and that it's not implausible that Ford's actions are partly retaliation for that? And that's kinda messed up?

We have a new Economic Inequality topic page— Public attention to economic inequality has grown a lot over the last twenty years. At the same time, the available data has greatly improved too: it now covers many more countries and longer time periods, and is more comparable and accessible than ever
Dot-and-line chart of monthly income or consumption at the 90th and 10th percentiles for selected countries, where it illustrates large gaps between the richest and poorest 10%. It shows the richest 10% in the United States at about $5,508 per person per month versus $789 for the poorest 10%, and smaller absolute amounts but clear gaps in Brazil (about $1,626 vs $161), Vietnam (about $875 vs $177) and Madagascar (about $156 vs $32). While it's good to see Canada provide funding to respond to the current #Ebola outbreak, it's an odd choice for a press release announcing $8 million in funding to highlight Canada's support for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (...which Canada recently cut by $190 million).🤔
Screenshot of the press release from https://www.canada.ca/en/global-affairs/news/2026/05/canada-to-provide-funding-to-help-stop-spread-of-ebola-disease.html (sorry, too long for alt text!), announcing $8 million in Ebola funding, highlighting the phrase "Canada continues to be a large donor to global health partners, including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Gavi"
