I have a deep affection for Hopkins as my daughter’s life was saved there at six days old. And this is great news. Also… just now? In 2026? When the surgery that saved my baby’s life was made possible by a black man 80+ years ago? We are a shameful society.

Shitballs. I went to PT briefly to try to finally deal with a lifelong issue. With AUDHD, work, family etc., I couldn’t keep to it when I ran into the same issue. Very nice, anti-vacc PT. PT is full of really old people. The kind that die from flu or covid. WTF.

Today I heard people talking about good uses for AI. All of them were about disability issues AI is aiding. My husband is testing meta glasses soon to find out if they can help him interact visually which will make him more independent. Being able to tell if the bagel he’s about to eat is moldy.

I’ve only had two mild cases. The second one was on my face and heading toward my left eye. Hella painful, but the fear of losing sight with a blind spouse was intense. Get the shingles vaccine as soon as you’re eligible.

If you have a pet that sometimes snags your clothes, or if you're clumsy like me, I've found Dritz Snag Nab It to be very useful. It's a needle with rough grooves on the tail end. Push the needle through the cloth and it'll pull the snag to the fabric's underside, where it will be hidden.

A green plaid flannel shirt with two snags on the face side of the fabric. There's a Snag Nab It needle next to the snag.

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.

The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.

We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.

Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines. When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

As a fungi enthusiast and slime mold obsessed nerd I love being able to use picture identification after hikes. Also identifying plants in my yard so I don’t remove things I want to keep is great. But I just found out my son is a blue pine tree. His name is Forrest but this was unexpected.
