I am pleased to share that our nowcasting R package {nowcaster} is finally on CRAN! The package wraps statistical models to estimate not yet reported data using an empirical delay distribution, either from individual-level data or from the differences of aggregated time series of cases.

Hear this wild idea out: what if we started blaming a system that forces researchers to publish a lot in little time? What if we stopped rewarding the number of papers when hiring new PIs? Do you really think researchers would still give up on doing what they love the most and hand it to AI?

Maybe one day I'll be one, but today is not the day (and each day I feel less and less hopeful, but I digress). You should definitely join if you can, though. The path towards a better academia is always easier when shared with the right people
