- I saw Fran Lebowitz speak earlier this year & she talked about how Oprah might have encouraged a lot of people to get into reading but she did so by referring to books as mirrors where you should see yourself reflected RATHER than viewing books as windows into the experiences of others.

I think Toronto's Canary District is great. I'm there several times a week. The transformation from wasteland is incredible, yet it is so rarely acknowledged or mentioned amid all the criticism and complaints about this city. If you haven't been yet, please visit, maybe one nice day this fall.

As much as I like to see jerks like this guy brought to justice, the methodology used to catch him raises more than a few concerns. I also wonder why technology cannot be used similarly to hold aggressive car drivers to account for their much more dangerous actions.

9 months ago Trump also declared Canada cannot make trade deals with China. So we're not allowed to trade with China, not allowed to trade with EU, not allowed to protect our industries, language, or culture, and only allowed to trade with the US on their terms? No sovereign country can accept this.

We finally made it to the Great Hall bookshop in Cabbagetown today. A very nice selection of used books and super reasonable prices. I restrained myself and bought only one. They have no website and I don't want to link to meta sites, so here's a good article about the owner from earlier this year.

Today I was fed ads from this American online shop shilling AI-slop shirts and hats to Canadians by trying to leverage our presumed patriotism over Lake Ontario. All promoted using more AI-slop graphics and bullshit testimonies. Also, ugly. I expect nothing less at this point.

This sidewalk serves as a handy carshare parking spot. In the distance, the bike lane is also a handy parking spot. Just another day at Jarvis and Esplanade where laws are casually broken day and night with zero repercussions. War on cars, etc.

Pedestrians.ca has now logged 130 pedestrian collisions across Ontario since May 1st. I recently added tracking for vehicle type (where reported) and the clear biggest dangers are pickup trucks, SUVs, cars and commercial trucks. Only one bike collision and one e-bike collision, neither fatal.
