"Bigger frames, higher grilles, giant trucks and SUVs where drivers sit high above the road and feel secure in a collision. But by engineering cars to be so safe to ride in, and to enable safe higher road speeds, we have inadvertently made our city streets incredibly unsafe for anyone not driving."

I'm not a designer, but I do wonder why @mozilla.org decided to have the newest version of Firefox render the currently selected browser tab in a style that looks exactly like a form text field in errored state (ie. white background, rounded corners, reddish border). Weird.
Screen grab of the Firefox browser on Windows which shows two tabs, one in a dark colour labeled "New Tab" and one highlighted labeled "DuckDuckGo - Protection...". Below is a snippet of the DuckDuckGo website.

Handing out bribe money, improving a bunch of services, while also reducing the only major tax income that the city is able to leverage. The math is not mathing.

Everyone in the fashion industry should be hauled before a tribunal to explain why they made pant legs way too wide for a decade, then way too skinny for a decade, and now way too wide again. Please make pants be the same proportion as people's legs, forever, and find something better to do.

It's old-man-yelling-at-clouds stuff, but every year this makes me more cynical. Entire aisles of plastic orange crap for sale by mid September. All angles fully exploited until every ounce of fun has been scraped away. By the time Halloween or Christmas day arrives, no joy is left, only exhaustion.

Expecting things we consume and purchase to be of reasonable quality isn't snobbery or elitism! And when quality improves it benefits everyone. Too many companies now treat customers and users with nearly open contempt.

Your assessment sounds right to me. Cease, Bateman, Okamoto and a solid catching duo are reasons for future optimism. Guerrero will improve. And the Jays will make some smart and aggressive offseason moves, as they have in recent years If only the lockout uncertainty wasn't lurking.

Canada's AI plan is mostly based around financial FOMO. Solomon's AI strategy acknowledges "risks and harms" from AI right up front, but only as a challenge to "building trust". I think it's just too optimistic. And if AI is bubble, Canada is getting in very late and will be left holding the bag.

My condo building (much larger) has spent *millions* on our three elevators between regular repairs and two complete "refurbishments" over the last two decades. Convoluted repair contracts, monopolies, acrimonious union politics, parts always on order, the elderly held hostage. It upsets me.

Car ownership means status to many people, even if subconsciously. To them transit, cycling or even walking are low status. They think buying a car (especially a pricey one) is like buying a Disney VIP Line Pass for the real world, hence the fury when they aren't prioritized over the lowly masses.
