Hey California! Be careful this election because the big money creeps are trying to trick you (again).
There's a trap on your ballot in California. Here's how to get past it.
1. Prop 40: 250 billionaires pay with they owe so hospitals, schools, and food assistant survive the federal cuts. Vote yes.
2. Props 41 and 42: paid for by billionaires to cancel prop 40. Vote no.
3. Tell one person, because the confusion is the plan.
Yes I'm 40. No on 41 and 42.

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.

I actually disagree. I think the real threat to journalism is twofold: billionaires suing an entire class into nonexistence and ad revenue completely drying up, even for indie journalists. The really scary concept for the future of journalism isn’t bias, it’s that it simply disappears.

"If this report is any indication of the [] methodological rigor, neutrality, and objectivity that is to follow if administrators now pressure sociology departments to approach the vision that Rubin has for sociology, it will involve a dramatic decrease, not increase, in its scientific qualities"
The question is not whether sociologists lean left. On average, they do, as do universities in general. The question is whether, as a result, American sociologists are lowering their standards of rigor. If they are not, to criticize them on the basis of their personal political
views is precisely what we mean when we point to politicization. Rubin’s report — and not mainstream journal sociology —
displays all the hallmarks of politicization. She rejects
others not because their arguments are inconsistent, their data cherry picked, their analyses unsystematic [for which she provides no evidence, and ignores contradictory evidence]. Instead, she rejects those whose politics she dislikes, and supports this with
arguments that are inconsistent, data cherry that are picked, and
analyses that are unsystematic.

If this report is any indication of the degree of methodological rigor, neutrality, and objectivity that is to follow if administrators now pressure sociology departments to approach the vision that
Rubin has for sociology, it will involve a dramatic decrease, not
increase, in its scientific qualities.

Real bad news.
Houthis are likely preparing to close the strait with a much better position than they had before. Having both straits closed has long been a 'sum of all fears' middle east energy crisis. Been writing about this exact scenario for over a decade. U.S. stretched thin, especially in terms of naval assets, puts them in a better position to sustain a closure and Perim Island is a strategic prize for such an operation, but sustaining actual forces and capabilities there will be more of a challenge than most realize. Regardless, this was always Iran's fallback plan. This is also why they held them back during Epic Fury.
