🚨New paper alert! 🎯In it, we study how enslaved persons resisted this awful institutions. 🔑 We find that, contrary to previous literature, resistance and acts of rebellion where common among all groups of enslaved, irrespective of gender or rank.

Tariffs are also a *regressive* tax on Americans, which means that the burden falls more heavily on lower-income Americans. Income taxes are the opposite. So shifting taxation from income taxes to tariffs is a transfer of money from low-income Americans to high-income Americans.

Demographers ability to model the global population ("10 billion by 2050 followed by plateau") rely on DHS surveys. Without them we're blind to large parts of the globe and quality of forecasts will go down. Which is of course a non-issue if planing-horizons don't extend beyond next Friday.
