Got a dog from the shelter, her name is Eurydice. Spent a couple hours practicing not pulling on the leash and now she exemplifies nominative determinism by preferring to walk slightly behind me

Got a not guilty verdict!!! Client was absurdly innocent but it was still such a relief I sobbed in my car afterwards (the sleep deprivation of trial prep didn't help in that regard)

It is corny as hell to say this but the ending of Coyote vs acme legit kinda moved me?? (my sister said the same thing walking out of the theater). Like it's a dumb little looney toons movie but like the ethos espoused is kinda what public interest law is all about??? Wonderful movie tbh

Thinking about Joe schmid's conversion videos and it's weird to me that the argument from miracles is what did it for him bc I have long thought (and still do) that miracles introduce so many problems that if I were an apologist, I'd disavow them rather than dealing with the problems they introduce

best thing about eclipse chasing, maybe even more than the eclipse itself: on this little patch of dirt next to the third millennium bridge in zaragoza, I met people from 8 countries & 4 continents, traded tips, took turns watching each other's stuff in the hot sun and all looked at the sky together

it really is fascinating, it’s not like the problem never happens with other versions but there was a while there where it was like, is this all LLMs or just 4o and it turns out the answer was “4o specifically destroyed people’s minds at a massively disproportionate rate”

12. Beyond anything about the film as a film, it was a terrible and entirely unnecessary choice to film the Trojan Horse sequence in occupied Dakhla, Western Sahara, without the consent of the indigenous population.

Not knowledgeable about the backrooms #lore, but just in terms of what I wanted it to be from the premise, the backrooms movie suffers from caring too much about what's in the backrooms and not about the rooms

I read a lot (most years I succeed in reading about a book a week, last couple years I've managed to do better than that), and yet my owned-but-not-yet-read pile's growth easily outpaces my have-read pile, and both are dwarfed in time-complexity by my want-to-own list. It's a real source of anxiety

My hottake on "is chatgpt conscious (or is it capable of becoming conscious)?" Is that it probably isn't but people seem to me to be way more confident in their answers on this than our current understanding of consciousness justifies (especially the second part)

„Hey hey hey! Once again Broadway is not a circus, do not yell whatever you want at the performers. Yelling „when are you going to finish your charts“ before I sing Who‘s Sorry Now is so f*cking disrespectful to the performers onstage and your fellow audience members. Yall are pissin me off. Love and light and please remember you are occupying shared space and watching art.“

The problem, as with so many things, is Trump. I'm gonna do a little thread on this because people don't seem to be aware. 1/x

LLMs have been widely reported as left-wing biased. The finding has shaped policy and debate — with Trump banning "Woke AI". Our new paper challenges this story. It's not that the models are biased. It's that they think the auditor is. 🧵 w/ michelleschimmel.bsky.social‬arxiv.org/pdf/2604.27633

John Lewis had John Roberts' number from the jump: takebackthecourt.substack.com/p/john-lewis...
Take Back the Court REP. JOHN LEWIS: In 1965, Jurist Roberts was only 10-years-old. He may be a brilliant lawyer, but I wonder whether he can really understand the depth of what it took to get the Voting Rights Act passed. The right to vote is precious, almost
sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society. As many of you know, I gave a little blood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, but some
of my friends and colleagues gave all they had, their very lives for the right to vote. I feel that if Judge Roberts is confirmed to be the Chief Justice of the United States, the Supreme Court would no longer hear the people's cries for justice. I feel that the leadership of the Court will promote politics over the protection of individual rights and liberties. If the Federal Courts had abandoned us in the civil rights movement in the name of judicial restraint, we might still be struggling with the
burden of legal segregation in America today. Jurist Roberts's memos reveal him to be hostile towards civil rights, affirmative action and the Voting Rights Act. He has even said that Voting Rights Act
violations, and I quote, "should not be made too easy to prove.'

Noticed that a lot of the attempts to justify ones vote (whether for red or blue) hinge on making an analogy to a case where the poster's position is framed as the passive act and their opponents as the active act. It's interesting how strongly our moral intuitions seem to hang on perceived pacivity
