As someone who’s never been friends w/ the heat and who’s tremendously disturbed by global warming (and the disinfo around it), I had to read this. No regrets. Compellingly and sensitively written. Eighth chapter moved me most. #globalwarming #nonfiction #johngoodell #climatechange #heat #crisis

Overall, this slim book articulates well the politics of our current times. It’s in convo w/ Hartmut Rosa, Byung-Chul Han, and others. Importantly, Jager includes Baudrillard in the discussion. #BookSky #AntonJager #hyperpolitics #politics #criticaltheory #mediastudies #philosophy #literature

Keeping the party going with this Jim Daniels poem
Poetry
It isn't brain surgery.
But then again, what else is
brain surgery.
Besides brain surgery.
Two dogs are company. Three's a lot of shit.
Isn't lingerie a great word? I mean, it's got linger in it.
What came first, the nook or the cranny?
A dead squirrel was the first heating pad.
Ice it, or heat it? Even the doctors
get confused. That leads me
to inflamed. See, that's a great word because it's got med in it.
And lamé! And inf, an obscure name for a Danish elf.
I want to be a Danish elf in lamé
who's finally off his meds.
I picked three flowers today. They quietly share the same vase.

Man, did Yeats have our number or what?
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
