You can see the CEOs salivating over the chance to become bigger than government and rule it rather than the other way around.

I sadly think he’s partially correct. There will always be space for human music. Just a whole lot less demand. AI music will take over listening to a track you never intended to hear again just needed some pleasing noise. (Taxi, cafe, mall) etc.

My understanding of the flying fix is to make carbon extraction cheap enough that we close loop making and buring fuel. The thinking of caseyhandmer.wordpress.com/2022/07/22/w... Isn’t too far off. We just need that next how-to break through.

I really like that this is a quick way to see which country tries to take care of those at the bottom Without a decently paid lower class mentatility. It moves into 2nd order costs pretty fast. Plus imo issues with pensions and paying enough for yours.

Frankly is exhausted with corporations externalising costs to me. Making me use time to do the things their employees used to do. They add up. It’s why we’re all so busy now. I enter my order into their damn system. I have to do the time on hold. I have too.. I like the fact we’re pushing back

Specific use case AI that makes a marked impact on a cost. Sure we need that. The generalist AI with these frankly terrifying and convoluted billing systems. No way.

Maybe you can make the case that 150$ per head count for tokens half won’t use is ok as the over all revenue went up. But its going to be hard to prove.

We have this exact chat. Right now it’s marketing hype. Bosses spending afraid somone else might pull ahead. Soon no ROI to justify the spend, AI labs must list before the tap is turned off.

We need a few vertical drinking days organised outside the council chambers. This idea they can make a terrible decision and make the cost and social burden the issue of the venue is horrific. Imagine the poor ‘security’ trying to make this happen for the sake of the license.

Also? Because climate impacts are nonlinear in global surface temperature rise, "the next gigatonne of climate pollution will cause more suffering and death than the previous gigatonne" will remain true for the rest of our lives. The case for mitigation gets stronger the more we emit.

Who does now? The public. Also it won’t be capital anymore. Capital is a process of profit generation. Socialism is perfectly capable of investing in machinery and innovation. There is nothing that says it can’t.
c Value
Economic systems, such as Capitalism, don't invent, create or build anything.
Workers do (See Soviet Space
Program). The "isms" only determine who gets compensated.
Nor does capitalism spur innovation; the pursuit of new ideas is fundamental to humanity, and takes place regardless of the economic system in place.
Inventions like rocketry, the internet, space travel, GPS, mobile phones, vaccines, were all developed under public funding.

what i _do_ think needs to change is collaborative development and community formation, though. and it is regrettable, because i think we have to impose more friction here and it’s mostly because agents are an attention ddos.

It’s the exhausting response of an economist. Not what happens. Hence we have terrible predictions by economists. I buy cheap. Hoping it will last and that it’s actually good. (often true) Not knowing how much I’d use it Also expensive isn’t often the good option. ‘Good’ is found in the middle
