New baguette alert. Been wanting to try Liberty Village’s Brodflour for a while, and today I got the chance. First of all, extra points for cool cafe vibe. Busy inside, and lots of people gathered outside with coffee cups doubling as hand-warmers.

I'm always amazed by the complexity and nuance of the neuroscience of pain. In this Perspective, @simonbeggslab.bsky.social and @franklandlab.bsky.social do a great job of explaining some important new findings on the role of time in the mechanisms of chronic pain www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Role and influence, yes. But, the biological mechanisms? Maybe not in a functional/systems/computational model... Mind you, though I am not objective here, I basically buy @franklandlab.bsky.social's account of infantile amnesia as being driven by neurogenesis: www.science.org/doi/full/10....

Call it anecdotal, but my Canadian friends who are cancelling their US travel are not doing it because of tariff worries at all; they’re doing it because the US government is currently actively threatening Canada’s sovereignty and economy and they’re all justifiably furious
