I have this feeling the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s were one story, a story about attempted resistance to capitalism and all the ways capitalism had of absorbing and suppressing such resistance. And starting with Y2K it became a different story, a story in which computers start to become a main character.

I found this a few weeks ago in my friend Annie’s new studio in The Harbour Centre in Gore Bay. Annie’s an artist and writer, and she’s got a very fine wall of second hand books in her studio, which is where I found Katherine May’s Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times.
