13-year old me was hooked the moment he bought the 2nd edition boxed set and opened Codex Imperialis. I loved the idea of the game but it was the lore and John’s artwork that really drew me in. As someone far more eloquent than me put it: He will, no matter what that old 40K preface says, be missed

Rolled some dice last night: Thanatek’s Tithe v Jaws of Itzl. Lost all three games but that was expected given that the bonelads are by far the most underpowered warband in the Underworlds. Nexus of Power is an interesting deck though!
