Wanna see a horrible video of something that most ppl never see? This is a rufous scrub bird singing his head off in the most open habitat I’ve ever seen them in. Normally they’re totally invisible in thick scrub - this one is still fairly invisible

Powerful Owlet in a suburban Brisbane park this morning. Surprisingly for daytime, it was trilling constantly. But then we saw one of its parents having a Brushtail lunch nearby in the same tree, and the Owlet joined it a few minutes later. #brisbane #birds #wildoz

A new Powerful Owl pair! We had found the female in January at a new site. We'd seen and heard her a few times since, but only her, so we'd begun to think she was on her own. But last night we saw them fly out together, and today we found them roosting next to each other. #brisbane #birds #wildoz

Due to heavy autumn and winter rains across central Australia, I predicted that it would be a bumper spring/summer season for budgies and cockatiels. Well, I wasn't wrong! There were 1000s of budgies and cockatiels at Gluepot. That's not an exaggeration. It was incredible.

A pair of Double-barred finches for today’s theme #Borbs

A concrete pedestal bird bath surrounded by Correa shrubbery and eucalypt mulch. There are a pair of tiny birds on the edge of the bath which have soft brown backs, black and white spotted wing feathers and distinctive white faces and bibs highlighted by narrow black lines and on breast and face. Their beaks are silver-grey and their eyes are black.

I heard rosellas outside. So I grabbed my camera and snuck out the back and waited. Amazingly, an adult and young one flew into my backyard. I wasn't very well hidden so it's a bit of a miracle they didn't skidaddle. The adult went down on the ground to feast on the freshly whipper-snippered grass 😀

Please say hello to this Australian raven I met earlier today.

A black bird stands side-on to us on top of a bright red "No Stopping" sign in front of a bright blue sky. Their beak is open as they croak, and the shaggy "bird" feathers are delightfully shaggy indeed. Their feathers are very glossy black. Either side, out of focus in the background, are some medium-rise apartment buildings.
