among the many times I've been abused by people, I have felt less angry at the person who actually committed the abuse (often out of their own trauma--not an excuse, but often is an explanation), than the people who fervently crowd around them to protect them from the consequences of their actions.

random rant but as a survivor I really don't feel helped by the common trope of pinning rape culture entirely on the hands of a few monsters, bad eggs, evil people. To me, equally responsible are abusers' enablers, yet they never face a fraction of accountability for their roles in enabling abuse.

what do we do with jacob geller? we find out he's a rapist. we are disgusted for days. we move on. frankly, he's going to keep making money, even without minnmax and lost in cult. his patreon is still very available. and i'm furious about that. but what can i do

Why does this article not disclose your personal relationship to gellar until the last few paragraphs? This reads more as covering for your own social class and colleagues than actually engaging with the body of work surrounding rehabilitation and justice in these stiuations.

You, YOU SPECIFICALLY, Flora, are EXACTLY the kind of person who would, and WILL, stand up for my rapist who is currently studying to be a therapist, because he will cry, and claim he's changed, and being a therapist is good, and don't we want ex-rapists to be therapists? He coerced me with therapy-speak, and he will use therapy-speak to tell rape victims to forgive their rapists, and people like YOU will call it "punitive" and "carceral" to demand my rapist be stripped of power, because before a damned thing has happened, people like YOU will be there to protect his career.

Your article did, and IS DOING, tremendous fucking damage to the cause of justice. You are naive and credulous and a convenient tool for every leftist rapist who knows how to cry and claim they're sorry.

Delete your fucking article, gender traitor.

like, if being the victim of rape by a public figure makes you the target of doxxing attempts, surely this means that the rapist should not choose to become a public figure, and not that no one should talk about him being a rapist.

I think noone is owed an audience and I think past actions are part of what defines us, so we can actually all drop a rapist like a hot potato, he can live an ordinary and boring life somewhere in the middle of nowhere or something instead.

Yes I read the quoted post. Seeking to monopolize is not selling a "loss leader." I understand the strategy you're outlining, but it's not a loss leader and it doesn't mean using ai is bad for ai companies.

Hey, so being an abolitionist doesn't change the fact I think someone who has sexually assaulted someone shouldn't hold positions of power. It means that I think they should still have access to basic human rights. Being an influencer is not a human right. Some of y'all have really lost the plot.

A police search of Flock producing 50 individual records of a woman's whereabouts across the country for an entire month violated her Fourth Amendment rights, Judge Sara E. Hill of Oklahoma's Northern District ruled yesterday. "Why is it the government’s business where everyone goes all the time?"

To be sure, ALPR technology does not provide the same precision in
location information as cell phones. But it could still reveal a lot about a
person’s whereabouts, and it is easy to imagine the kinds of sensitive
information it collects. It could track and log a couple struggling to start a family at the fertility clinic. It could show how often someone visits a liquor store or casino. It could show which doctor someone goes to or what lawyer’s office someone visits. It also collects mundane information about people’s commutes, but it collects a tremendous amount of such information all the time. It is possible that a dedicated team of law enforcement officers could

constitutionally collect this information about one car—and its driver—by following that vehicle on public roadways over a month. But this leaves the question of why is it the government’s business where everyone goes all the time? The government cannot go snooping through our personal lives and business without an adequate basis to do so. That is what the Supreme Court has said since its decision in Katz through its decision in Chatrie this year, nearly sixty years later. It is not too much to draw the line at indiscriminate mass surveillance.

My thoughts are also, like, dude could have chosen basically any career that wasn't the one that puts him in a position of influence over a bunch of people and he chose that one. He did a bunch of hard work to become a guy with a kind of power over others after previously exerting power over someone

So, that's not what a loss leader is. A loss leader is when you serve a product at a loss to facilitate the purchase of other products you DO make money on. IE xbox selling consoles at a loss to sell xbox games (and mtx) at a premium price. AI isn't doing that, they're not selling anything else.

One of the things that is going to change is that we’re never ever again going to be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us, ‘Trust the experts,’” Mr. Kennedy said during the Tuesday session.

“If somebody tells you, ‘Masks work, trust the experts,’ A.I. may tell you otherwise,” he added. “If somebody tells you, ‘Social distancing works, trust the experts,’ A.I. may correct that. And if somebody tells you that a vaccine will prevent transmission and infection, or you need to take it to protect your grandmother, A.I. may say it actually doesn’t do that.”

In October 2025, “Isaac Q” of the William A. Percy Foundation announced funding for “The Autogynephilia Project,” writing in part:When contacted by Chron, Hubbard said the Epstein foundation had a "long record of supporting various academic interests."

"I was not then and am not now aware of any evidence that Jeffrey Epstein was a 'pedophile' in the technical sense; his sexual preference appears to have been for young women aged 16-22, which would at most reflect partial ephebophilia," Hubbard told Chron in an emailed statement. "Although most of the women who were involved with him at that age retrospectively regret it, I am unaware of any evidence that the contacts were non-consensual at the time."

"Some were self-conscious sex workers who recruited others into his orbit and are now making cynical claims of victimization to cash in on his estate and business partners, as reported by Michael Tracey and other credible journalists," Hubbard added. "Like over 1,000,000 Americans, he did have a conviction for a sex-related offense, but from what I could see in 2015, it was for something that would not even have been illegal in most European countries and resulted in a very short sentence."

But Democrats in Republican-leaning districts are under pressure to respond. One Democratic strategist estimated that fully half of the GOP’s messaging this year has been around transgender issues — about the same time they’ve given the economy, data centers, immigration and crime put together.
