Stopped by the police for the first time tonight. But I'm such a goody-two-shoes I kept driving at first 😬🤷‍♀️ How could it possibly be me you want, officer?

Actually, this thread is very apt for that photo - my son was significantly ill last year and eventually had surgery in January. The NHS is brilliant when it works but there are serious failings of women and children happening far too often. Some of my son's hospital stays/illnesses were avoidable.

I am indeed! And yes, maybe a post-Covid bounce 🙂 Let me know if you're about at Lavour Conf and want to say hi (I'm at LabourList karaoke by myself but will have my little one with me for the rest of it)

I think a potential angle on this is control and a changed mentality around it when it comes to interacting. It could link with someone else's earlier comment re addiction but really I think that as society/people feel less agency in life they look to recover it in other areas.

If you don't know about the Battle of Cable Street, and other times we stood up to British fascists, you can learn about that now, before it's too fucking late. History is not boring and it's definitely not irrelevant.

Footballers these days are just athletes. And boring ones at that. You just have to run a lot, don't have to take anyone on, just run and pass. This is what being in an academy since 2 does to the game. We need a mix of flair players and nutters.

Instagram is full of women telling other women to “move into their truth”, “stop trying to conform”, ”be bold“, “confront&own who they really are“, “be empowered and take up more space”, etc. All these women are very skinny, have very long glossy hair and more or less identical faces. Just saying.

My wacky conspiracy theory is the feud between Farage and Lowe is fake and the plan was always that Restore is the 'real' Reform. The Reform we currently know is just to desensitise people and make inroads so that Restore could be the player next election... (I *did* say wacky)

Electronic payments have massively contributed to the cost of living crisis. If shoppers had to physically count and handover notes for shopping, the extortionate price hikes would lead to a huge decrease in demand and a downward pressure on prices.

Oh dear. The weekend was screwed for thousands of people when Sunday shopping was legalised under Thatcher. Maybe the Journos who skive on a Friday in their offices or at home “phoning it it“ need to go out into the real world and get a proper job

I was walking my dog tonight and ran into a neighbor who has severe dementia. He’s such a nice guy and said he likes me because he can remember me. We laughed and walked and talked for a while and even if he doesn’t remember these conversations, I will.

I’m not saying we should feed all the influencers to the sharks, but I note that the sharks do seem to have a taste for them
Incidents of sharks biting humans are incredibly rare, but at least three influencers have been bitten by the animals in less than a year.

Parents 'missing important family time' due to aimless phone use
Almost half (48%) of parents of under-18s check or pick up their phone 30 or more times per day without a specific reason – adding up to more than two hours, and 88 hours over the course of the summer...

Hmm. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing in terms of improving the day-to-day experiences of pupils and staff (cuts 'fluff') but if it is to be implemented well and sustainably, it needs to have the voice of the profession involved or feeding in as things change.

Would really like them to clarify whether they're only focusing on secondary at the moment or if primary (eg SATs) is also about to get a makeover. And...how are they collecting feedback from the profession for these? Or are we going for a top-down, get it done now approach.

Seconded. Also turned me on the tax vapes and gambling shops to pay for the bus fare. In conversations I've had with locals to me, we'd add nail bars and barbers into that as well - we're oversaturated with them - but the approach of curating the high street via tax would be positive for us I feel.

Healing fragmentation in Britain will take time. Examining why people return to the terraces and the touchlines is a good place to learn how it can be done.

I think it's easy to be popular there at this point, he's only one week in. It may be smashing Tik-Tok & Insta (which it's the right type of content for) but is generating a lot of negativity on his other social channels. He had strong authenticity factor on X but it's vanishing very quickly.

There is no reason whatsoever why primary school homework should be virtual. Trying to enforce screen time limits as a parent is nigh-impossible these days when the school keeps making kids do their Year 4 English homework on a computer for some reason. Bring back worksheets.

Wonder if it's something to do with a 'one rule for them, another for us' perception. I also wonder if there's any cultural influence/intersectionality on this as well.
