If they remove the recording capabilities—video and sound—they could still be used as real-time accessibility aids for folks with visual impairments, but not be a privacy and safety risk. I see the accessibility use for these, but as they are, they are dangerous and harmful.

I spoke about being queer in a religious upbringing to 200 Scottish teens at book event this afternoon. Had seven (yes, seven) queer students and two trans students come out to me quietly in the signing queue afterwards, one of them in tears. I will never forgive those who make their lives so hard.

I recently finished reading The inn at the foot of mount vengeance. The debut novel of @chiarab.bsky.social I really enjoyed it. Great cosy fantasy vibes. Good proper character development. A bit of mystery and commentary on relationships/societial expectations/desires. Would highly recommend.
