Buzzing to see Paul Simon again! Not sure there'll be dry eyes though. "At first, the record can seem like a tone poem, a meditation of mortality and spirituality, yet each subsequent listen reveals a moment of grace or insight that helps pull the entirety of the project into relief." #SevenPsalms

The obvious poem comes to mind. www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45521/...
Follow this link and you can listen to William Wordsworth's poem, Daffodils. The image is the text version.

It's not anywhere near your mileage but I spotted this at the weekend and am now all set for some urban exploring. The most I've walked before is Bletchley to MK/Willen (because the alternative was 3 bus journeys to work...)

Pleased with this little find today! One to keep for the baby when he's older once I've marked our places of heritage on it. (Having tangible links between then and now is one of my favourite things about living where we do now. I never had graves to visit or people before me in MK)

Sitting under the @alderhey.nhs.uk birds again this morn thinking what a difference light, airy spaces make to experiences. Pre-op checks for the baby done. Next time we're here, it's the main event!

Werewolf or not, tonight is a night for people to howl at the moon apparently. I have not howled (yet?)
Picture of January 2026 Wolf Moon. The full moon looks slightly enlarged to usual and the detail on it is much mpre visible to the naked eye due to a clear sky. The moon is set against a pink and blue twilight sunset sky with an old-fashioned streetlamp in the front of frame.

Tonight's poem. Very apt.
The Road Not Taken

Play Audio
By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Lovely performance in the Lady Chapel at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral last night, my first time hearing both. Missed the last 4 songs as the baby vomited everywhere but I'm told there was no last minute lift or epiphany in Schubert!
A programme from a concert evening at Liverpool Cathedral, detailing a performance of Britten's Ceremony of Carols by the cathedral Girls' Choir followed by a rendition of Schubert's Winterreise by Damian O'Keefe.A photo of Liverpool Cathedral's alter in the Lady Chapel with some low lighting.

I particularly liked the involvement of people beyond the exhibition to inform the design of the space and respond to the prompt, it gives it a personalness and connects the then and now.

First time to Alder Hey for us and what an experience it is - so patient-centred! There's natural light, open space and wooden bird branches indoors! THIS is what hospitals should be like. Anyone who has stayed on ward will tell you it's a bubble. Surroundings like these make such a difference.

Sad news re Jack Vettriano. He's not everyone's cuppa but his work is charismatic, candid and captures moments less showcased.

What poems/poets are you feeling at the moment? For me it's classic Percy Bysshe Shelley, particularly this offering. Not only is it expertly crafted technically but the writer is within it. It's immortalised the poet in that moment. Good writing is more than words (imho!) #poetry #Shelley
