New Yorkers who lost their SNAP benefits because of the federal government's expanded work requirements can reapply starting today, October 1.

To find out whether you're eligible to get your benefits back or qualify for an exemption, call 718-SNAP-NOW (718-762-7669), visit nyc.gov/ACCESSHRA, or use the ACCESS HRA app.

I'm at the allergist, clutching a tiny paper shirt to my titties trying not to have a nip slip while my back is on fire with itchiness. Lord save and preserve me.

I have been trying out a new mood-tracking app, and 2x a day it asks me to rate my mood (and correlate it to circumstances/emotions) and I think it's cheating because the second one always happens while I'm eating dinner, and dinner supplies 82.7% of my daily dopamine.

Grilling Time: I'm prepping onions and peppers for Mexican later this week, and zucchini and summer squash for pasta later this week, plus some bonus sweet potato wedges, and then burgers and dogs for tonight, with a finale of grilled peaches and ice cream for dessert.

An under-rated stress reliever in your adult existence is having a stash of gifts/cards. I love that I could go into my closet and pull out a beautiful, tags-on silk scarf and a birthday card when I got invited to my neighbor's 80th bday party last week.

I see so many of my Millennial cohort bemoaning the prudishness of Gen Z, but please, let's put on our thinking caps. 1) Gen Z are the first to grow up 100% online, and exposed to porn extremely young 2) They also have had smart phones since elementary school

If you're under the age of 25, the first time you encounter *any* of these companies it's them offering dogshit. Like, if you are under 25 your experience with Bethesda has been Starfield, your experience with Facebook the Metaverse bullshit, your experience with Google its dogshit genAI, etc

Every single academic writing about their special interest needs to be forced at the top of their book/paper/essay to say, "If you're already aware of the conversation around this topic, and you're just here to know what my argument is, flip to page 156"

I've been making homemade pizza every Friday night since 2018-2019. I've been yearning for a pizza steel this whole time, trying to thrift or pick one up at an estate sale. My Mom bought me one and it came today. I shoulda shelled out for this 8 years ago. Unfortunately worth every penny.

quote tweet from 2022:

Hello, your friendly southern Y'all-pologist speaking up here.

"Y'all" is the clearest, most inclusive, most elegant form of the plural you in modern English, and we don't gate keep that.

Everyone gets to use "y'all"

Tweet underneath that:

If a non Southern American person uses "Y'all" in tweets, am I right to mentally cringe a bit? Keep seeing New Zealanders and Aussies using it, and it makes me slightly more than mildly annoyed.

NGL - I've cried multiple times in the last few days at the thought that Miss Piggy lost her friend of 50 years, and the Muppets lost one of their own.

Stole this from the comments because this shit shouldn't be behind a paywall.
Crucially, the GLOVE has limitations, chief among them that for the device to work effectively and deliver its restraining pain shock, it must come into contact with the subject's bare skin. According to Compliant Technologies, the gloves won't work through dry clothing or thick hair. The gloves will work, however, if the subject is wearing thin, wet clothing, such as soaked T-shirts or blouses. The GLOVE also does not like being dunked in water and will likely be rendered inoperable if this happens.

Saw a video review of the book/audiobook for Project Hail Mary. The review was stilted, years out of date, & had nothing new to offer. But I watched the whole thing. I realized after I watched it was because it was SO obvious that it wasn't a ChatGPT script. The humanity of it was comforting.

Like 5 years ago I realized that all the cool "tricks" I've been able to do my whole life (touching my my thumb to my wrist, my palms to the floor, and generally being a Girl Gumby) aren't just cool tricks, but actually hypermobility, and that comes with a host of weird symptoms.

I would like Kelly Clarkson to do a bootcamp with Hozier on diction. Do you know how POWERFUL he would be if you could understand what he's singing? Meanwhile, KC is out here teaching us lyrics we've never known before with Kellyoke because she has the clearest diction of any singer in the world.

I badly injured my right hand when I was 14yo, which is why I now have to do 10 minutes of stretching before I can work on my crochet project. This ISN'T because I am old. It is because I was dumb when I was young.

She's all set up! I've had my walstad tank set up for 6 years now, and this was the first full take down and redo -- new substrate, some new plants, new hardscape. No filter, just a light and a small heater in a 10 gallon vase. Now we wait for the tank to cycle, and it'll be ready for fish!

I need people to lock in and stop with the pleasantries on company chat. I don't need a, "Hi Erica, how are you?" before you ask me a question. "Hi! Could you help me with XYZ?" is totally fine. I don't need to sit here for 5 minutes in suspense while you draft your message.
