I’ve been watching through DS9 with my wife after seeing TNG and the good episodes hit really good, and the overall mood and base situation feel more …relevant. Still some bad episodes for sure but a ton of highs and relatability

very tired of being told it is the responsibility of urban democratic voters never to risk possibly maybe by chance seeming less than respectful of rural red state life and then watching thousands in nebraska cheer on the president joking about a nuclear strike on me and millions of my neighbors

it makes me think of when I was in LA and went to the Getty and some sections felt as if they were basically just all the same painting of Jesus, and seemed to contain little of the actual artist themself (in the broad sense of it) landscape paintings there were nice? I liked LoMa a lot more

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.
When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldn't get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.

I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didn't have much to 'bring' to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.

'What are you struggling with?' he asked.

I gestured around me and said 'I dunno man. Life.'

Not satisfied with my answer, he said 'No, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?'

I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didn't want to say it. I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.

But I didn't.

So I told him, 'Honestly? The dishes. It's stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CAN'T do them because I'll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just can't stand and scrub the dishes.'

I felt like an idiot even saying it.

What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and I'm whining to my therapist about dishes?

But he nodded in understanding and then said:

'RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.'I began to tell him that you're not supposed to, but he stopped me.

'Why the hell aren't you supposed to? If you don't want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist.'

It blew my mind in a way that I don't think I can properly express.

That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.

I felt like I had conquered a dragon.

The next day, I took a shower lying down.

A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the fuck they fit.

There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.

Now that I'm in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.

But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:

THERE ARE NO RULES. RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!"

See I think sports betting is bad when it involves money. I think sports betting is good when it involves ill-advised, perhaps slightly inebriated sexual favors between friends.

ive seen a season of some of the newer stuff (discovery, strange new worlds) and it seems more cinematic and more of one packed story in the way that a lot of series are, vs a more thing of the week with longer themes or recurring important things that got like 2 parters. Kinda a fresh breath of air

my wife showed my TNG, we watched most of it while doing other things - work, cleaning, cooking. I really enjoyed it overall, even if some parts or episodes might be rough fascinating cultural reference point too for me. We’re watching battlestar galactica before moving on to (probably) DS9

FOUND IT
Parody of the classic chart of The Hero's Journey, labeled as The Fool's Errand. Divided into two sections: Unknown and Unknown. It is a great circle.

- Opportunity to gain
- Supernatural Prank
- Unheeded Advice
Here, the Fool passes from the Unknown into the Unknown
- Slip 'n' fall (intensification of error)
- Helper (who always lies)
- Old man (mistaken for wise)
- Seductions and Temptations
- Helper (who also always lies)
- CONFUSION - Hall of Mirrors - confrontation with the self
- Stumbling through the thorns
- The Unforgivable Misunderstanding
Passing from the Unknown back into the Unknown
- (Rejection of the Goddess)
- Coming home before he's supposed to

In my personal life I have moved away from thinking of people as stupid. Instead I just think of people as "incurious," where the Doing of learning has become something they are too tired, scared, or proud to pursue. Curiosity is, I think, the greatest human virtue, the Doing of learning.

so apparently the slang term for estradiol in china is "Debian install media" as the most common brand has a spiral on the box resembling the Debian logo
a pink and white box labeled PROGYNOVA with a spiral on the box art, of a prescription HRT. Next to it is a debian box with very similar art (which is probably a mockup as a joke, or a way to camouflage the box for stealth purposes, as HRT is probably illegal in china)
