it really needs to be more openly discussed that all the people advocating for “we should be fine with losing basic skills if we get more systems thinking” are men, meaning socialized to expect to be able to offload basic tasks of daily living onto a wife as part of their compensation for existing

Just because SCOTUS affirms a type of discrimination does not mean that discrimination is required. This decision should not cause us to weaken our efforts for trans inclusion in general or trans inclusion in sports in particular. Cis allies, you very specifically, need to double down.

Running into words you don’t know and either discerning what they mean from context or looking up what they mean is how you learn new words. It’s one of my favorite things about e-readers! A word you don’t know can become a word you know in about ten seconds.

I've taught PERSEPOLIS (book & movie) more times than I can count. Two epic masterpieces, but, more than that, two texts that find their way to young people. I've never had a class that didn't *get* PERSEPOLIS, and that's a miracle of its own. Satrapi's voice and imagination are so alive. RIP.

MIDDLEMARCH HIVE, RISE UP!
Get in, loser meme but it says “we’re doing the key to all mythologies” “So, you’re saying that the people running AI have done a terrible job of selling AI,” Rogan said. “So sell it.”

“Yes — oh, sell it, I mean, look, so it, it is, alright — I mean, alright I’m gonna give you the deepest of all pitches, I’m gonna give you the, the — okay,” Andreessen stammered right out of the gate. “So, uh, Isaac Newton spent 20 years looking for this key to what he called ‘alchemy.’ Uhm, and the idea of alchemy was to transmute something that was very common into something that was very rare.”

ell a roomful of academics that you use Al in your writing and watch what happens. A few will nod. Most will go quiet in that
particular way that means they re embarrassed on your behalf. Someone will bring up plagiarism. Someone else will invoke the sanctity of the scholarly voice.
And then, later, several of them will corner you privately and ask which tools you use and how.
