One of the largest issues with attempting to make the argument that organized political violence is not the norm in how we relate to one another is that we're able to easily and directly observe the continued emergence of organized violence in a security vacuums.

There's an irony in that the failure to recognize non-white empires as *empires* with all of the exploitation that implies is fundamentally racist, predicated on the assumption that imperialism is something only white people are capable of (in both a moral and ability sense).

I think it is both important and really difficult for folks to distinguish between 'rampant war crimes' of the sort that Russia, for instance, does in Ukraine as opposed to reduced but still very horrible amount of civilian suffering that a war waged according to law and custom entails.

Also just have some moral courage. Nothing in the world is certain. Sometimes you get betrayed. You can’t orient your priorities around a pathological fear of betrayal. You have to have the self-trust that you can cope with an adversarial situation to be able to undertake bold action.

You want civilian control of the military in a democracy. Well, this is it. Elect better civilians. You want the military to be part of the checks and balances? That’s a praetorian guard.

I want to see the Dems repeating Mitch McConnell’s stonewalling of President Obama, where they refuse to work with their political opponents on ANYTHING unless it directly benefits the middle class (and lower) people.

Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated. Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms. Collective boycott. Corporations love money more than anything,& this will harm them and force them to do the right thing.

Obama and Biden deported more people because they were specifically targeting criminals; Trump's "all of the above" approach has sent a lot of people into hiding, making them harder to find and deport. No, it's actually Donald Trump and Republicans doing these mass deportations, not Democrats.
Rayando45: Did dems also have this idea to facilitate mass deportations? Your anger or blame is misplaced here.

In a major war, all of the battle space will be contested which means SOF will play a secondary role while battles are fought at the Corps/Division level. SOF, if anything are gonna act as glorified LRSTs. Unfortunately we'll have to relearn this in blood ala Kasserine Pass

erdkarte.bsky.social @erdkarte.bsky.social · 06/05/2025
Also, if the conventional military did not succeed in this, there's no way any SOF unit would be able to conduct those surgical raids unencumbered. Their FOM was based off of the fact we already occupied most of the country 3/

erdkarte.bsky.social @erdkarte.bsky.social · 06/05/2025
A lot of this interest in SOF ignores the fact that the conventional military campaign in Afghanistan and Iraq lasted for a month. The rest of the time was the military trying to consolidate gains/state build - not LSCO - which is something we'd do in a major war 2/

I think one of the biggest issues here, is that Pete and cohort don't believe that LSCO is something the US will ever do in the future. He thinks that some hyper trained ODAs or SEAL platoons will be enough to win a war ala GWOT (which, also, we didn't win) 1/
