I think the most obvious "get people to sign up on atproto" is a linktree that is actually good and they don't even know it's a PDS.

half the feed talking about how good 5.5 is but the first thing it did for me was refuse to commit to main and try to teach me the importance of proper branching and that's the kind of crap that made me stop using Fable 5.

The pace of software development these days intimidates the hell out of me.
Pipecat release announcement:

**Release highlights**

✨ **Introducing Pipecat Classifiers.** Classifiers are a new, lightweight way to make fast decisions without running a full conversational LLM turn. Ask yes/no, choice, or score questions, batch multiple questions together, and get typed results with probabilities. Use Jev for fast classification or `LLMClassifier` with any Pipecat LLM that supports structured output. We've also rebuilt `VoicemailDetector` on top of classifiers, making voicemail detection much simpler and removing the need for its own LLM pipeline.

I was on gamefaqs yesterday and thinking of all the human hours poured into creations of love like "FFVII 100% complete all items walkthrough" uploaded as plain text docs and stolen and locked behind APIs and removed from the commons. Thinking about tabs gets me made about this all over again.

I think the 7fig thing only lasts for a decade at most though. Once the first banking and telco and finance apps get created with ai assistance the digital exhaust will expose these secrets. And I’ve seen enough of these apps up close to know there’s not that much magic to em.

Please think Reacher asks the question, "What if man big?" but don't know the extremes that have been explored in that genre.

starting to think that answering your agent's questions in-line is ngmi behavior. everything success-coded is about will to power with these things, and letting the model frame the debate is not.

Ouch there is a story of heartbreak here. Having to rip the masters through Roxio because you don't have the hardware to go direct, and then losing the Digi8s before the BluRay pressing. It's hard enough being a filmmaker without all that.
(Excerpt from the Castration Movie Anthology i. Traps jacket, white ink on dark photo.)

"About the Transfer
Castration Movie Anthology i. Traps is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.39:1. Because the film's original Digital8 master tapes are now lost, this presentation was sourced from the original MPEG files that were created using a Roxio Video Transfer USB capture card during production. This footage is presented in its original form with no A.I.-assisted upscaling."

It's refreshing to read Italo Calvino's "Cybernetics and Ghosts" (1967) — where an Italian science fiction writer envisions a combinatorial machine for writing fiction and concludes that it's a) possible, b) desirable, and c) instructive. sites.duke.edu/machineliter...
Cropped photograph of a book page discussing writers and writing machines. The passage reads: “The so-called personality of the writer exists within the very act of writing: it is the product and the instrument of the writing process. A writing machine that has been fed an instruction appropriate to the case could also devise an exact and unmistakable ‘personality’ of an author, or else it could be adjusted in such a way as to evolve or change ‘personality’ with each work it composes. Writers, as they have always been up to now, are already writing machines; or at least they are when things are going well. What Romantic terminology called genius or talent or inspiration or intuition is nothing other than finding the right road empirically, following one’s nose, taking short cuts, whereas the machine would follow a systematic and conscientious route while being extremely rapid and multiple at the same time.”

Not to be a compliance chud but it's worth pointing out if you want to do something like MHS as the post describes in an actual OT environment you probably need to break IEC Zones & Conduits in a bunch of different ways. Maybe we can actually include OT in the automation revolution this time.

If you think 20% of new entrants in the workforce should leave the major metros and move to The Villages every year, we're fighting. If you think automation should allow everyone to retire at 65, except if you're an elder care worker in which case you work til you're dead, I'm throwing hands.

on AI and your growth
If you are here to ask how to grow yourself/your career, it doesn't matter very much what AI can do. If you don't understand how the things work then you're creating a limit on the types of things (or quality of things) you can do with AI. If you want to grow yourself then picking projects and making sure you can explain every line in the project is a way to go (whether it was created by AI or not). Or if not on your own projects, picking up bits to contribute to existing projects and again fully understanding the code you submit and come to fully understand a subsystem, then the whole system.
