Would you realize if the book you were reading was AI? What if it was humanized to remove AI-speak? We find that even without using stylistic cues (e.g., word choice or sentence structure) narrative choices alone give AI fiction away!

Hey #atl folks and #tech folks, do folks know why Google Maps would show such a weird, winding layout for Edgewood Ave by Georgia State? Conjecture, but could they be relying on AI assistance that's going wrong? Overfitting based on photos or driver behavior?
A Google Maps street representation going left/right or west/east that has waves in its bike lanes and lines that would probably cause daily wrecks.

It doesn't have to be this way. Firing can be legislated to be more ethical, thereby incentivizing companies to be mindful in hiring. Reduce the boom and bust cycles and the heartbreak, turmoil.

SCOOP: double fine is unionizing
ouble Fine, the Microsoft-owned studio behind Psychonauts and, more recently, experimental fare like Keeper and Kiln, is set to unionize, per a petition filed to the National Labor Relations Board.

The petition, filed May 7, says that like other Microsoft games division studios that have unionized to date, Double Fine workers are making their unionization push in conjunction with Communications Workers of America (CWA). The union will include all “regular part-time and full-time employees”—a total of 42.

“On May 7, the workers at Microsoft studio Double Fine Productions announced their decision to form a union with CWA to preserve and extend the studio’s commitments to creative excellence, diversity and inclusion, and worker quality of life," CWA said in a statement to Aftermath. "In tandem with requesting voluntary recognition from the company, workers have also filed an election petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to secure union representation. We appreciate that Microsoft has taken a neutral approach and agreed not to interfere in any way with worker’s rights to organize unions.”

The Tufted ground squirrel (Rheithrosciurus macrotis) is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in floof. Let's start with the *FLOOF* & talk about why they're called "VAMPIRE SQUIRRELS" last. They have the largest tail: body size ratio of any mammal on Earth: the tail is *130%* the size the body.
Taken from "Critter Science" blog: A squirrel with dark coloration, just an amazingly large tail, and long tufted ears that point slightly backwards. Along the long-thin body are orange, white and black striping. The tail looks almost exactly like one of those dust-trapping dusters.

Hallmarks of #AI text being emdashes (—) and lines like, "Great catch", and "You're absolutely right" after getting something wrong seem like linguistic signifiers of its nature. It needs to swerve, pivot on an instant, when the path it goes down is wrong. It's less smooth and fully-considered.
