These are all traits of terrible forecasters.
Text from an article by the Economist reading: “the logo of Grok, his chatbot, on the back, he showed flashes of the steely single-mindedness that helped him pioneer the mass-production of electric vehicles and send reusable rockets into space against all odds. He also showed how bent on shaping his own reality he is, to the point of intransigence on matters outside his sphere of expertise.”

Europe can build a lot of renewables without getting into grid issues. What’s also worth noting here is that private investors must have known this all along. That this hasn’t yet happened means there are barriers to investment beyond the grid.

Now that millions of electric vehicles have been on the road for a decade or more, we have the data to check in on how their batteries are holding up. Quite well, it turns out.

This is a rather weird fourth. I fell in love with America, the country where it doesn’t matter where you are from. It saddens me how much we’ve regressed, but I also believe that that America as an idea is still alive.

TODAY: New York City’s entire electric grid just got about 20% more renewable power. That’s because it’s the first day the CHPE transmission project is sending commercial power to New York City's electric grid. 👏👏👏 Lower prices! Less pollution! HUGE!

Global economic development has progressed with several highly regular patterns for more than half a century. These patterns may change, but their implications deserve much more attention and respect.

As EU lawmakers are looking to soften the continent's CO2 price, it's worth remembering that policy makers can overcome political constraints by complementing CO2 pricing with subsidies without sacrificing much economic efficiency, as I and @knittelmit.bsky.social show here: doi.org/10.1016/j.en...

An important and underappreciated fact of electricity economics: The US average *wholesale* electricity price is ~5 c/kWh, or ~25% of the average *retail* price of ~19 c/kWh. The other ~75% of the electricity prices we pay is about poles, wires, transformers, generation capacity, and utility profit.
