I try to keep education on battery maintainence, but damn, it's hard to keep modern electronics from going downhill. I know part of it is planned obsolence but it's still so frustrating.

Yes. Super lucky at several points in my life, and well aware of being on the Lowest Difficulty Setting in Life here in the US (regrettably even more so today than before). I'm smart, talented and work hard, but lots of people do that and haven't gotten the breaks I've gotten from luck/privilege.

RIGHT? I love DnD and tech so it sounded incredible at first and then it was horrible to see it being sloppified. (And the presenter list was very suspiciously exclusively white and male. 💀 I dread to think what the AI would have done to 'fantasy-ify' more diverse folks....)

I wonder if those are just the ones that get remembered? I've seen some dire tech conferences with 'obvious sales pitch' talks and presentations rammed with AI slop. One geared to a Dungeons-and-Dragons-loving crowd had TERRIBLE AI art everywhere & ran presenter photos through AI fantasy filters. 🤮

Spun up an Oracle Cloud instance for a wee tech project, and whew. Just. Yikes. One of the most unpleasant and anti-user systems I've ever seen and this is for a service they presumably want me to like and pay for. I don't generally touch Oracle stuff but I'm going to be avoiding it even more.

Hope I worded that right! Basically the required person should be a semi-regular user of screen reader technology and familiar with it as a primary tool, not someone who uses it rarely and lightly for tech demos (or someone who just downloaded NVDA when they saw this skeet).
