Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

There are no trans athletes at a serious competitive level anywhere in the US. Bans from sporting bodies apply now to amateur and recreational leagues so trans athletes are banned from those too. So what is there even to supposedly protest? Y'all won and still can't shut up about it.

This is why I say that caving on the sports issue doesn't make it go away. The IOC, World Athletics, 27 states, and every major sporting body have banned trans athletes. The Supreme Court agreed with them. They got what they wanted and they still can't shut up about it and keep making it an issue.

I worked at Smithsonian, specifically raising money for 250th. What I want people to know is we secured millions of private philanthropy to host a month long Folklife Festival on the mall, "The Festival of Festivals". Was going to feature well known festivals, think Burning Man, Farm Aid, Grand Ole Oprey etc. as well as smaller local and regional festivals from across the U.S. and territories. Goal was to feature truly the best and most beautiful creative expression in music, dance, arts and craft traditions, food, community etc. Can't name names but plan was to have headliners every night for free concerts.... Think the types of names who might be affiliated with the aforementioned large festivals. Stars were willing to perform because was under banner of Smithsonian. It had to all be scrapped bc the administration would not release permits to host on the mall. The money went elsewhere, but our nation was robbed of what would have been a once in a generation cultural moment.

The Times responded to my analysis of their coverage of trans issues. They basically said "you can't look at what we wrote, you have to look at everything else!" But that belies the structural issues they won't even admit to such as pushing a Pullitzer campaign for Azeen Ghorayshi's podcast.
The Times rejects the criticism

In a statement to The Advocate, Rhoades Ha said the paper has “reported deeply for years on the prejudice and attacks that transgender people face” while also helping readers understand “the questions and debates over trans rights and medical care.”

“We reject any suggestion that our coverage is biased or anti-trans; we report on gender identity and related issues fully and fairly and approach our coverage with curiosity and sensitivity, as we do with every story,” Rhoades Ha said.

She said Caraballo’s analysis “shows a fundamental misunderstanding of our journalism and how it works,” arguing that such studies “sample words, sentences, and headlines in isolation and ignore the expertise, facts, and context that journalists and editors bring to each story.”

Rhoades Ha also disputed criticism that the Times fails to include transgender voices in its coverage.

In the fall of 2024, Leonard Leo wrote a letter to the trustees of his 85 Fund on its priorities, one of which was going after WPATH. He's spent millions to make it happen including funding Do No Harm and the Manhattan Institute. The FTC lawsuit is his return on investment.
Transgender Policy-making: The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) is legally a 501(c)(3) but functions as a trade group for activists and healthcare providers who profit from radical transgender policies. The "Standards of Care" it promulgates influence healthcare worldwide - for capitals to courthouses to medical institutions and facilities - and are used to strong-arm existing trade groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics and British Medical Association into supporting WPATH's agenda.
