Having read the judgment, it was a technical error. In short, a warrant was applied for an obtained under section 8 of PACE - the general power available to the police when seeking a search warrant. The police error, frankly a rather stark one, was they could not satisfy section 8(1)(d)

Please submit your small ideas for fixing Britain to the Small-Ideas.org website. It’s a new charitable initiative I’ve set up to try and make sure life’s potholes don’t get ignored. Working with two charities and a cross party panel to turn your ideas into policy then try and make it happen.

Tory IHT cut could cost £11bn - almost twice the advertised price
Our modelling suggests Badenoch’s inheritance tax cut could cost £7.7bn-£10.9bn a year and shift £60bn-£110bn from savings and investments into housing.

Agency as a term is overloaded and so needs to be qualified: causal agency, computational agency, moral agency, etc.

That’s not the main point Jim. This policy encourages the affluent with accountants to buy an even bigger house they don’t need as it’s exempt and even worse to load up on debt to do so as the liabilities offset their taxable estate but the home is exempt. Leverage is back in fashion

AI agents can act, but they cannot intend, so they can be responsible for outcomes, but never accountable for them. They have computational but not moral agency.

Labour figures rule out working with Greens after ‘Zionism is racism’ vote
Minister says they could not see parties cooperating, while official says coalition should be formally ruled out Senior Labour party figures said it is very unlikely their party would cooperate with the Greens in the future after they adopted a policy treating Zionism as a form of racism. One Labour minister said they could not foresee how the two parties could work together, while a government official said Labour should formally rule out a future coalition or other arrangement. Well I agree businesses will always maximise shareholder returns but personally in this case I honestly believe building large numbers of affordable homes would be ethical, economically sensible and profitable for businesses so a win all round. But maybe I’m naive 🤷‍♂️

Yeah but not really. Multiple reports have shown builders don’t have sufficient incentives to build lots of affordable homes, rather than them constraining supply to jack up prices. 1) Zonal permissions 2) EUV land acquisition 3) Public master developer 4) National infra pot 5) Etc

Well I agree on your view of unrealistic plans but given there is a clear supply problem then what would be your recommendation to increase vastly the building of new, affordable homes as well as the surrounding infrastructure?
