Vancouver’s downtown area, lit up, is really beautiful.

The skyline of part of downtown Vancouver near the Westin Bayshore hotel. Many tall glass buildings have individual square windows lit up against a dark blue sky, with water and boats visible on the left side.

Oh cool. I may have to look that up sometime.

I’m really enjoying it. Thanks!

Vancouver was just astonishingly pretty today.

A square pool of water reflects a flat white building with white squares on its side with multiple glass building behind it.

Riding the ferry. (I asked a stranger to take my picture and it turned out he’s a professional photographer. I don’t like many pictures of myself, but I like this one.)

A figure in dark jeans and a green raincoat stand on the upper deck of a ferry boat with water, clouds, sun and low mountains behind.

Saying goodbye to this wonderful tiny cabin where I’ve stayed for the past few nights while on The Sunshine Coast.

A very small shingle-sided cabin with a red door and green front steps surrounded by trees.

None. The guide said we’re a little early in the season up here for it. (I’m in Canada).

The coolest thing about learning about mushrooms is that I’m noticing them everywhere. I saw these while walking around today.

Bright red round mushrooms with white bulbs, on the ground among dead leaves and green grass.

I went mushroom foraging yesterday, with a professional guide. We didn’t find all that many edible mushrooms, but it was really fun to learn about a few and explore the temperate rainforest.

Maritime forest with tall trees creating a cainomy and many fallen trees on beds of green moss. A figure with a long beard wearing layers and a raincoat speaks to a group whose heats are just visible.

A hand with grey fingernails holds a large yellow/orange chanterelle mushroom.

Tall red-toned straight tree trunks with bright green leaves and needles at the time. Bright green moss on the ground.

Large mushrooms growing on a fallen log on a bed of green ferns.

Sticker on a pole in Roberts Creek, BC

A bent rectangular sticker with handwritten words on the left and a stretched-out hour-glass shaped line drawing of a green trash can. The words says: Don’t know why they didn’t make trash cans colorful.

#featurefriday @goatfarmband.bsky.social Nasty Sludge Metal with a vocalist that transitions from Faetooth-like beautiful vocals to soul-ripping screams. It's nasty, it's beautiful, it's angry, it's what I need, what you need, what we as a society need. Not complacence, not distraction but anger...

That’s interesting to know. I’m just basing it on never seeing one in the state of Georgia, or anywhere in the U.S. where I’ve been.

At the very top is a gooseberry (physalis) and a tiny meringue.

110

Also, they may be common in Canada, but this is the first time I’ve seen a physalis (gooseberry) outside of Germany, which is funny since I believe they are endemic to South America.

I don’t post a lot of food pcs, but this French toast I had this morning from a restaurant called Palate in Downtown Vancouver was the most amazing I’ve ever had. I’m ruined for all others forever.

Theee very thick, crispy, golden slices of French toast on a round white plate with strawberries and blueberries around the bottom and topped with a Physalis (gooseberry)

So, I’m walking around Western Vancouver and this older guy with a long white beard takes one look at the comically large pack on my back and smiles and says “Enjoying the journey, eh?” I laughed and said I was, to which he replied “stay hydrated!”Sometimes people are great.

Spot the seagull. (Hey, I’m in Vancouver!)

A white seagull stand on the middle landing of wide, brightly-painted concrete stars.
