Jev: Fable-level model that doesn’t charge for output tokens because they’re too cheap to meter it’s not general though, it only makes decisions, doesn’t generate text, but input tokens are measured by the billion ($42/btok) typesafe.ai/blog/introdu...

Scatter plot titled "Average of 4 workflows: accuracy vs cost" comparing AI models from TypeSafe, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Fireworks across accuracy (y-axis, 40% to 80%) and cost per workflow in USD on a logarithmic scale (x-axis, $0.0001 to $1).
Data points are split into two categories: workflows (diamonds) and single prompts (circles). A frontier line highlights the most efficient workflow models—where no point is both cheaper and more accurate—connecting Jev (TypeSafe) at $0.0002 and 68% accuracy, luna (OpenAI) at $0.002 and 67% accuracy, terra (OpenAI) at $0.04 and 68% accuracy, and sol (OpenAI) at the top accuracy of 74% for $0.08. Single prompts (circles) and Anthropic models (opus 5, sonnet 5, haiku 4.5) sit below the frontier line, indicating higher cost for equivalent or lower accuracy.

I think its deeply weird to make up and use a slur for robots, and it doesnt really matter if they are "conscious". If they are its bad for the obvious reasons, if not then its still just cringe to revel in mock cruelty.

sockpuppet.org/blog/2026/08... I agree with a lot of this, which is weird given my career building CLIs (but not TUIs). can’t think of a single one that I wouldn’t rather be a native GUI 😬

Stop Making TUIs

It's time to stop drawing user interfaces with punctuation characters. Native UI is a completely solved problem.

Nail this on the fucking doors of Those People. You know who they are.

A screenshot of an excerpt from the linked document. It reads:

Of course, LLM outputs are not entirely empty of meaning. They can reason through open math problems, after all, so synthetic text must convey some valuable suggestions and correct claims. But they often fail to comply with Grice’s rules of pragmatic communication because they are not engaged in a cooperative exchange. LLMs will generate extraneous filler, add irrelevant caveats, confabulate, and compress claims beyond easy recovery. To find a nugget of meaning, the user must sift through mounds of slop—and some simply won’t bother. They’ll serve the slop unfiltered to another party, who performs this interpretive labor themselves, only to discover that the underlying meaning does not exist. When someone expects me to perform their share of this interpretive labor, I get angry. Grice’s rules are, in essence, rules of etiquette—their unwarranted violation is rude.

There are so many bad trends in tech, but maybe one of the worst is people who write (or used to write, pre-LLMs) code describing themselves "forward-deployed" when they mean that they work at a client site, based on wanting to emulate military jargon so it sounds like they're going to kill people.

Alarmed at this trend of people finally realizing MCP is a pointless abstraction, then skipping right over publishing a regular boring API, and instead launching new CLIs for agents to use for some reason. It’s baffling.

There’s a deeper skill that goes beyond specific technical expertise: can you articulate a problem you are facing with words such that others can understand it? You know the folks who just say “it’s not working” and give no details? They can’t prompt.
